#tekken Oftentimes, when classic games are re-released, there can be fan discontent about the quality of the porting job. If too many things are changed, fans are upset. This can be particularly dicy with voice-acting, given that many older games used outdated technology to record and compress audio, and many of the voice actors that worked on a given game may no longer be working or available. What My Favorite Fighting Game Character Says About Me

#tekken I almost flunked out of college because of Mortal Kombat on the Genesis. (Yes, that's how old I am.) Classes skipped, papers turned in late and reading assignments left barely skimmed, all because I was trying to perfect my Scorpion technique. And while the undead ninja from the gory fighting series is a favorite of mine, he's not the favorite. That honor goes to Lei Wulong, the occasionally drunk kung-fu cop from Namco's Tekken franchise. Tekken producer Harada: No DLC characters for us
edge-online.com posted by Joystiq 12 years ago

Capcom's been explaining itself over the on-disc DLC that came with Street Fighter x Tekken, but Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada said there will be no such problem with his side of the franchise. Because, you see, he told Edge that no Tekken game will ever have DLC characters at all.

That's quite a pronouncement. He clarified that he doesn't have a problem with Capcom doing it, noting that their motives may be different from his. But Harada sees, he said, "the characters and their move sets as chess pieces - they are essential items necessary in the game and we would never sell any of those individually."

That doesn't rule out DLC completely, as Harada added that vanity items that might be added to the game after the fact would likely come with a charge. Characters might also be added to a Tekken game in advance as pre-order incentives, as long as they could eventually be unlocked by all players in the game. But as for after-the-fact characters, you won't find any of those in Tekken x Street Fighter if Harada has his way.

#streetfighterxtekken Street Fighter X Tekken has just been a post-release comedy of errors, whether we're talking about on-disc DLC and the apologies for it, or bizarre character endings (that also highlight the on-disc DLC scandal.) Many have noticed that four-man cooperative play is supported on PlayStation 3 but not Xbox 360. Why is that, Capcom man? More »

#streetfighterxtekken Street Fighter x Tekken's Gem System has been quite a controversy in the fighting game community. There are those who feel it makes the game too easy, that it will, in fact, break the game itself. After playing through SFxT's tutorial and pumping in a couple of hours into versus mode, I think that Capcom has managed to pull it off. The Gems allow for some interesting strategy and have a risk/reward element that will make for one exciting game. More »
