A portion of an MTV review...

The actual gamification of The Sims experience is welcome here but you'll have to be prepared for something of a learning curve as you'll have to struggle against an unexpectedly complex series of menus which present the only real obstacle to enjoying the game.

A portion of a Nintendo Life review...

While EA released its predecessor only half-baked, it's come through with The Sims 3 Pets and created a quality life simulator that's still mystifyingly amusing and addictive, now with the added cuteness of playing as dogs and cats, though it might not grab you like it did ten years ago.

A portion of an NWR review...

It does a great job of adapting the PC formula to the 3DS hardware, and it’s just as addictive as it ever was. If you’re a fan of the PC game, this is a great way to take it on the go.

The Sims isn't about death-defying leaps, state-of-the-art graphics, or fine-tuned physics. The Sims is a canvas. It's a series of tools presented to paint any kind of picture you want, to tell the story you want to tell. Electronic Arts and The Sims Studios just keep adding more tools to the chest ...

Electronic Arts returns with yet another expansion pack for their long-running Sims franchise, the fifth for The Sims 3. From the title alone, it probably goes without saying that The Sims 3: Pets focuses on animals you can adopt to wander around your home...

For "true" fans, the definitive Sims experience has always been PC or bust. But as consoles gain power and the series spread across multiple platforms, the market for virtual lives expands. My only other experience with a console version of the series was with The Sims: Bustin' Out on PS2, a fun but limited take on the IP. So as a longtime follower of The Sims on PC, I'm impressed with the depth in the Xbox 360 version of The Sims 3: Pets...

Since I know just how much you lot love playing with cute fluffy animals, I thought I’d better point out this pet creator demo. From The Sims 3 website: “Create a wide variety of unique dogs, cats, and—for the first time ever—horses!” HORSES!? Best of all the animals?

You can download Create A Pet here. This concludes our The Sims 3 Pets coverage for today.

I'll be the first to admit I'm stupidly excited for The Sims 3 Pets. This enthusiasm stems from my extremely nerdy years of playing Petz and running an online kennel. Yes, I just admitted that. With that knowledge you can see why this game would tickle my fancy -- I can breed virtual animals (I ...

#thesims I have a cat. She often throws up. Why? Sometimes she gorges herself. Sometimes she's chomped on the houseplants too much. Sometimes she's just angry at me or my wife. More »

With The Sims 3's latest expansion, Generations, launching this week, it's time for EA to announce the next installment: Pets. The title will be an "entirely new standalone game" on Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo 3DS. It'll be a standard expansion on PC and Mac.

The Sims 3: Pets will give players direct control over the creatures and even allow breeding and sharing. The Xbox 360 version will have Kinect capabilities, allowing players to control "their pets and Sims" using voice commands. Like, and this is in the press release: "telling their Sim to be romantic." Take a moment to think it through. ... Awkward, right?

For the Nintendo 3DS, Pets will use the built-in pedometer to add more "Karma Points" the more the player walks. The points can be used on in-game items. Using the 3DS's StreetPass players can gift pets to other Pets owners.

Oh, also, if you don't make at least one crazy lady with hundreds of cats in the neighborhood, you're playing The Sims wrong.

Most of us have days -- and for some of us, those days are more like every day -- where we'd rather hang out with a four-legged friend than a member of humanity. The Sims 3: Pets allows you to take that affinity one step further and actually be your pet for the first time in franchise history. Always wanted to destroy that living room furniture or even pee on the carpet? Well, consider your dreams fulfilled...
