New York's Museum of Modern Art is hosting a video game exhibit beginning in March 2013 with installments of 14 initial games, featuring Pac-Man, Tetris, Myst, Katamari Damacy, Dwarf Fortress, Portal and Canabalt, among others.

MoMA eventually wants to incorporate 40 games into the show, with a wishlist including Asteroids, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Grim Fandango and Minecraft. Games are chosen based on a "tight filter" that covers behavior, aesthetics, space and time, meaning the "selection does not include some immensely popular video games that might have seemed like no-brainers to video game historians," Senior Curator Paola Antonelli writes.

"Are video games art?" Antonelli asks herself. "They sure are, but they are also design, and a design approach is what we chose for this new foray into this universe."

Surely Edmund McMillen didn't think 1 million Binding of Isaac fans would be satisfied with the scant details he provided about the game's console version, Rebirth, in yesterday's postmortem.

He's taken to Tumblr to clear up questions about Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, confirming that publisher Nicalis is working on ports for PS3, Vita and PC via Steam. Nicalis is talking to Microsoft and Nintendo, and even iOS is an option, "if it's not garbage."

Rebirth will include Wrath of the Lamb and a new, similarly sized expansion that features a fresh final chapter and ending, two new playable characters, and "tons more items, rooms, enemies, bosses and the like."

Rebirth will have local co-op only, and it will contain some "secret stuff" that couldn't be added to the Flash version. Composer Danny Baranowsky is mixing up some new songs for the console version. It's set to begin development on January 1 and be finished by the end of 2013, and McMillen wants to have a loyalty pre-order discount for anyone who owns Isaac already.

"The biggest thing to keep in mind here is that development is just starting with the remake, nothing is totally set in stone and a lot will change over time," McMillen cautions. "I'm currently in full-time development of Mew-Genics with Tommy and we have a few other little tricks in store for you next year, so my goal with Rebirth is to simply make sure the remake is top-quality and then detail out the expansion and updates once development is much farther along."

Yeah, yeah, whatever, McMillen - we stopped paying attention right after reading "Vita."

Proving that people will buy more things when they're cheaper, Sony boasted about Black Friday sales boosts for both the PS3 and Vita. Last week, including Black Friday, Sony sold over 525,000 PlayStation 3 units and 160,000 Vitas in the US, the publisher reported today.

For Black Friday, Sony offered discounted $199 bundles for both the console and handheld - the PS3 with Infamous Collection and the Uncharted Dual Pack, and Vita bundles with a choice of Call of Duty Black Ops Declassified, Lego Batman 2, or Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation. Amazon had an even more appealing Vita bundle, which threw three months of PlayStation Plus and a copy of PS All-Stars in with the Liberation set for $180. Those sold out within five hours.

PlayStation Plus members in Europe are ending 2012 in style with the addition of Batman: Arkham City, Vanquish, and Limbo to the service's Instant Game Collection. The shadowy trio all become available on December 5, while Mortal Kombat Vita steals the month's portable limelight on December 19.

Two newly launched games are also in next month's Instant Collection, both available on PS3 and Vita. The first is Big Sky Infinity, a port of Boss Baddie's PC release Really Big Sky. The luminous twin-stick shooter comes to Europe's PSN on December 12. Second up is Knytt Underground, the next chromatic platformer in Nicklas Nygren's 'Knytt' series, due on December 21.

On the get-it-while-you-still-can front, December also sees a few removals from the Euro Instant Game Collection. Crysis 2, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Double Dragon Neon all depart on December 5, Chronovolt rolls off on December 19, and Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack rockets away on December 21. Get them before they disappear.

Unchained Blades is due for the 3DS in December, "hopefully," XSEED writes on its Facebook page. After that launch, XSEED might start localizing the sequel, Unchained Blades EXXIV, for western audiences.

"We're still struggling to get the original out on 3DS first," XSEED writes. "After that's finally out the door (hopefully December), then maybe we can start thinking about the sequel."

Unchained Blades hit PSP on June 26, for $30, and it is available now on the Vita via the PlayStation Store.

PSN this week is feeling feisty. Full games launching today are Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and Men in Black Alien Crisis. Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers and Sonic The Fighters each launch on PSN for $5, and Vita and PSP get Phineas and Ferb Across the Second Dimension for $20.

A 60-second ad created by the Robot Chicken team for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will air tonight "sometime" during the 10PM hour on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. The PlayStation Blog currently has a 15-second version of tonight's ad up on its site, but the other 75 percent is still super secret.

The Robot Chicken ad finds Sony's cast of characters working through their issues in a company break room. PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale ended up being pretty good according to our review, in which we said it was more than a simple imitator of the Smash Bros. formula.

MLB 13: The Show is wisely staying out of public places until we get some beautiful spring weather, now scheduled to launch on March 5, 2013, for PS3 and Vita.

MLB 13 includes a few new features, such as a stadium setting with Playoff mode, a new beginner mode and improved Play Now, Franchise and Road To The Show modes. Franchise, Season and Road To The Show game saves can be synced among devices, whether PS3, Vita or that other PS3 you break out for special occasions.

Here's something to think about while you browse Amazon's list of Cyber Monday lightning deals, which include Soulcalibur V and a coordinating arcade stick, a 3G/Wifi Vita, Dance Central 3, the return of the Halo 4 with $20 gift card offer, and Adventure Time: Hey Ice King, etc. Are the savings worth the continued use of the term "Cyber Monday?"

The timed deals begin at 9:12am PST (12:12pm EST) and continue throughout the unfortunately named day.

The PlayStation Store is being swamped with Vita discounts next week, as revealed on this week's PlayStation Blogcast. A total of ten handheld games see their prices tumble as of November 27's PSN update.

First up, Hot Shot Golf: World Invitational, Little Deviants, MLB 12: The Show, ModNation Racers, Reality Fighters, and Wipeout 2048 are all being reduced to $17.99. Slightly dearer are Resistance: Burning Skies, Smart As, and Unit 13, all coming in at $26.99. Finally, as of next week Uncharted: Golden Abyss sets you back $35.99. Just to note, Golden Abyss and Wipeout 2048 are currently part of the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection, along with four other Vita games.

Nintendo's presence looms large in the fledgling category of game mascot fighters. For years, the company has had a monopoly on the concept with its Smash Bros. series, essentially making it a genre of one. Sony may be the only other publisher with a large enough bench to support such a concept, and as a result PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale has been subject to many comparisons with Nintendo's beloved franchise (not all of them favorable).

All-Stars certainly wears its influences on its sleeve, but thanks to some clever ideas, it also earns its keep. This isn't just a carbon copy, but a well-designed game that could go toe-to-toe with Nintendo's fighters.

After going free-to-play on iOS and Android (and undergoing a subsequent Facebook port), Halfbrick's Jetpack Joyride has made its way to PlayStation Network today. Jetpack Joyride is available for $3.99 on Sony platforms right now under the Minis section, making it compatible with PSP, PlayStation Vita and PS3.

Jetpack Joyride features the most recent version of the game, replete with waves of nigh-unending challenges, a store full of unlockable jetpacks, outfits and other virtual goods. Plus: lasers. There are so many lasers in this game.

Jetpack Joyride on PSN also includes gadgets, like coin magnets and gravity belts, which were introduced in the 1.3 update.

The latest PlayStation Store update brings two long-awaited game to PS3 and PS Vita. PlayStation All-Stars is now available in digital form on the PS3 for $59.99, as is a pint-sized version on the PS Vita for $39.99. And Atlus' acclaimed JRPG, Persona 4: Golden, is out on the PS Vita for $39.99.

Meanwhile, Clan of Champions and Sine Mora are both available on the PS3, and Jet Set Radio and Halfbrick's great iOS game, Jetpack Joyride, hit the Vita. A new bundle assembles Sonic the Hedgehog and its sequel for $4.99, and some bonus content is thrown in with Hitman Absolution, alongside a discounted Sleeping Dogs.

There are also sales on some PS3 Ultimates (including the great Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine), and over in the DLC column we get the fifth episode of Telltale's popular Walking Dead series. Today also marks the debut of Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage for Borderlands 2 and a demo for the new DMC: Devil May Cry.

This week may play host to the big debut of PlayStation Plus on Vita, but a smattering of other deals also await subscribers. The free game this week is Dungeon Defenders, the tower-defense online co-op RPG hybrid from Trendy Entertainment. The Classic Sonic bundle, which pairs Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, is also gratis to all PS Plus members this week.

Deals come from Sega's staple of games too, the PlayStation Blog reports, with discounts on Nights Into Dreams HD, Jet Set Radio, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and even a bundle on Hell Yeah and two supplementary DLC packs on the docket. And if you got into the PS Plus membership for the non-gaming stuff (sure, we totally get it) then an 80% discount on one year of Music Unlimited Premium may entice your earbuds.

Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault won't be available on Vita until January 2013, but the PS3 version is still locked and loaded for November 27 for $20. Full Frontal Assault was originally intended to launch with cross-buy support across the hardware platforms.

As a "reward" for customers' patience, Sony will release the "Mini-Boss Skin Pack" as free downloadable content on PS3. It contains three boss character skins from past Ratchet & Clank games (pictured above).

You know that big update coming to Street Fighter X Tekken in mid-December? We hope you marked your calendar in pencil because producer Tomoaki Ayano says the patch has been pushed back to January 29, 2013.

Word comes from the development blog, where Ayano addresses tweaks are coming to the throw system, gray-area life recovery speed and how quick combos work. Ayano doesn't go into specific details on how these systems will change, but he does say he'd like throws to be faster and may change how the life gauges shake when taking damage. Completely redefines the game!

Amazon's Black Friday deals are worth staying in for, thankfully, as are your health and safety. The retailer posted a list of Lightning Deals for Monday, November 19 through Saturday, November 24, along with the approximate time the deals will be active.

Thursday and Friday are the big days, of course, with standout deals including Dishonored for $25, Skylanders Giants for $39, $200 PS3 and Xbox 360 bundles, and the far, far too tempting $100 price for the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector's Set.
