Fruit Ninja developer Halfbrick announced today that its other baby, Jetpack Joyride, has been downloaded over a million times on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. The portable PlayStation version of the game has also recently received an update that integrates Twitter support and "performance upgrades."

Jetpack Joyride is currently available on... wait, let's try this another way. Jetpack Joyride is currently not available on Xbox 360, Nintendo systems and most brands of toasters.

#demongaze "What the hell is Demon Gaze?" was my first response when I heard about this new game for the PS Vita from Kadokawa Games. The game was released on January 24th in Japan under the genre of "dungeon RPG," and almost immediately sold like crazy. Well… relatively crazy. It is a Vita game after all, and there aren't as many of those in circulation compared to the 3DS or the PSP. In its first week out, Demon Gaze sold 25,793 copies, according to Weekly Famitsu. Pretty impressive considering the initial lot was only 25,000 units. Game retailer Sofmap even tweeted that their restock quickly sold out much to the surprise of the developer spokesperson. Skyrim's Dragonborn DLC pack has landed its clawed, winged self on the PlayStation Network, two months after the Xbox 360 release and one week after the content's PC debut. The $9.99 adventure sends you back to the scene of Morrowind's Bloodmoon expansion, the Island of Solstheim.

Also dropping on PSN today is the entirety of Persona 4 Arena for PS3, as well as Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken and Ecolibrium for Vita, the latter of which is completely free. This month, PlayStation Plus subscribers can add Closure to their Instant Game Collection, which is kind of cheating, if you ask us -- we've been paying our therapist to bring closure for years.

PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale gets an infusion of fresh blood today with the addition of two more classic Sony mascots. First up is Kat, star of last June's Gravity Rush. Next is Emmett Graves, grizzled protagonist of Starhawk, who comes to us all the way from last May.

Okay, so maybe developer Superbot didn't dig too deep into the Sony library for these two, but the good news is that they're both completely free for the next two weeks. After that, they're $4.99 each.

In the wake of a $115 million loss in Sony's third quarter, its stock price has taken a significant hit, reports Bloomberg. Shares dropped from ¥1,530 ($16.51) to ¥1,365 ($14.78), a decrease of 10.78 percent. Bloomberg notes that this is the eighth consecutive quarter that Sony has posted a loss, and that the stock price decline is the largest the company has seen since November 2008. Investors had hoped the weak Yen would help bolster the company's earnings.

The decline in stock price follows a string of troubles for Sony. Late last year, the company saw its credit rating dropped to junk status, despite its attempts to restructure in order to stem losses. It's worth noting that, while Sony did indeed post a loss for its third quarter, the loss was significantly reduced versus the same quarter in its fiscal 2011. Nevertheless, the games division saw significantly decreased sales, and the company cited the "slow penetration" of the PlayStation Vita as a "particularly important" issue.

Konami has released its year-to-date financial information for the nine month period ending on December 31, 2012, and while the company has posted significant year-over-year losses, it is still reporting a profit in all areas.

So far, Konami has accrued revenues of ¥160.1 billion ($1.71 billion), down nearly 18 percent from the ¥194.5 billion it had earned by the end of calendar 2011. Likewise, net income (read: post-tax profit) was down 48 percent; ¥8.82 billion ($94.6 million) as compared with the ¥17 billion reported this time last year. Konami's "Digital Entertainment" division, responsible for all video games and Yu-Gi-Oh cards, brought in roughly half of the company's overall revenues with ¥80.5 billion ($861.1 million) reported.

Konami also produces a wide assortment of slot machines and pachinko games for western and Japanese markets: Its "Gaming & Systems" and "Pachinko & Pachinko Slot Machines" segments, respectively. While all of Konami's divisions suffered losses, its Pachinko division experienced the most severe year-over-year disparity, reporting a 77.8 percent decrease in revenue versus last year.

Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault is now slated to drop in spring 2013, after missing its most recent release window of January 2013. Full Frontal Assault was originally scheduled to launch with Cross Buy for PSN and Vita on November 27, and though the PS3 version made it out Vita needs some more work, SCEA producer Greg Phillips writes.

"Our friends at Tin Giant have been working night and day to bring Insomniac's PS3 game to the PS Vita system and to provide our fans with a great game," Phillips says. "While the original delay has helped us make the game better, we still need more time to bring the game up to the standards expected by our fans."

To compensate, Sony will offer a free download of Ratchet and Clank: Deadlocked on PS3 for everyone who owns the PS3 version of Full Frontal Assault, on the day that game hits Vita. Keep the faith, full frontal assaulters.

Sony posted a net loss of ¥10.8 billion for its fiscal third quarter ending December 31, 2012, which converts to around $115 million. That represents a huge reduction from a previous Q3 net loss of ¥159 billion, with the company's various cost-cutting strategies across the last year helping to turn the tide.

On the games front, however, Vita and PSP forecasts took a significant hit. The handhelds' combined fiscal-year estimate (March 31, 2012 to March 31, 2013) is now at 7 million, down 30 percent from the 10 million projected in November, not to mention the initial projection of 16 million. Sony sold 2.7 million of the handhelds across the third quarter, but in the last three months of its fiscal year the company only expects to sell 1.3 million.

The PlayStation division endured a tough third quarter overall, with operating income dropping year-on-year from ¥33.8 billion to just ¥4.6 billion, or around $49 million. While Sony noted the previous Q3 was offset by the Vita's launch in December 2011, the company admitted this year's figures took a hit because of decreased sales across all its gaming hardware. The Vita's "slow penetration" was noted as a particularly important issue.

The combined fiscal-year projection for PS3 and PS2 remained steady at 16 million, with Q3 sales of 6.8 million for the two consoles. Software-wise, 61.7 million PS3 and PS2 games were sold across the third quarter, while PSP and Vita game sales came in at 8.9 million.

Sony has announced that it has selected New York-based ad agency Bartle, Bogle, Hegarty as its new lead creative agency, after what sounds like a complicated (and crowded) selection process. For the past six years, Sony's lead agency has been Deutsch L.A., the team behind none other than Kevin Butler and the famous "Michael" ad. But after chatting with Deutsch and other cool-sounding firms like 180LA and Anomaly, Sony selected Bartle, Bogle, Hegarty New York to deliver its future message.

BBH has an impressive portfolio of work, including the Axe Astronaut campaign you may have seen during the Super Bowl last week. Why did Sony switch horses after so long? Oh, we don't know - maybe they have a big new announcement in the works they want advertised just the right way.

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time steals a spot on the PlayStation 3/Vita release schedule today, joined by a little bite-sized bit of Sly Cooperana. Bentley's Hackpack is a $3 download for PS3 and Vita (with cross-buy), featuring expanded versions of three retro-style minigames from Thieves in Time.

If you decide you like the games in Thieves, you can buy the Hackpack to get 20 more levels for each; or, if you have no interest in playing the main game, you can download a demo of the Hackpack itself when the PlayStation Store updates.

Da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da-dah! Congratulations, PSN, you gained a Final Fantasy 25th anniversary sale and a Namco Bandai sale, both with plenty of games going half-off. Oh, you also got two Phoenix Downs and a Maiden's Kiss, you sly sausage.

The same Final Fantasy sale that's been gracing Europe's PSN goes live in North America later today, slashing 50 percent off 12 games from Square Enix's illustrious series including FFs 5-9 and the three PSP Dissidia games. The full list of games is right here.

Meanwhile, Namco Bandai is also kicking off a chunky PSN sale later today, with a dozen of its own going half-price. They include the bizarre Noby Noby Boy on PS3, the whimsical Touch my Katamari on Vita, and the daunting 'Artorias of the Abyss' DLC for Dark Souls. The Final Fantasy sale is for two weeks, while Namco's runs until March 5.

Sony and Superbot Entertainment, the developer behind PS3 and Vita brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, are no longer an item. Sony confirms in a statement to Kotaku that its business relationship with Superbot is over:

"Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that the working agreement with developer Superbot Entertainment has amicably ended. We have had a positive working relationship with this talented studio, and wish them the best of success in their next endeavor. PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale and the title's forthcoming DLC releases will continue to be fully supported by Santa Monica Studio."

Superbot's director of operations David Yang provides a statement on the split, noting that the studio doesn't have plans to reduce its staff now, but that could change soon. "It is unlikely we can continue with our current work force for an extended period of time," Yang says. "We are still working things out and hope to continue on with as many of us as possible."

Superbot's complete statement reads as follows:

"Superbot Entertainment can confirm that the relationship with SCEA has ended on good terms. We are extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to work on with Sony on Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, and are extremely proud of the work we have done. Superbot Entertainment will continue working on projects that reflect our passion for games and our commitment to creating award winning titles. We are very excited about beginning the next chapter of our future and invite all of our fans and supporters to follow our journey."

On January 25, Sony confirmed layoffs at Superbot and promised to support any future All-Stars DLC. A character pack for Battle Royale including Gravity Rush's Kat and Starhawk's Emmett Graves is due on February 12.

Another week, another round of goodies of PlayStation Plus members on PSN. The biggest of this week's bonuses is a free download of Guardians of Middle Earth, a game that does a surprisingly good job of bringing the MOBA genre to consoles.

There will also be a handful of discounts on other games. Jordan Mechner's Karateka will see its price punched and kicked down to $5. Twin-stick shooter Big Sky Infinity will be $5.99 and features Cross Buy, unlocking the game on both PS3 and Vita. Finally, we have the stylish, humorous platform adventure Knytt Underground, which will be available for only $5.

You're reading Reaction Time, a weekly column that claims to examine recent events, games and trends in the industry, but is really just looking for an excuse to use the word "zeitgeist." Now that the Joystiq staff has recuperated from the verbal immolation and bizarre "hipster" categorization of their Game of the Year choices, I've decided to rescue and share my own runner-up list before it sinks even deeper between the couch cushions. These are all games worth playing, and I'd be irritated if I closed off my 2012 before talking about them just a little more.

(Besides, we have a guy on here who writes about games that are much older than, you know, Far Cry 3.)

Mode 7's indie darling Frozen Synapse will be ported to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita courtesy of developer Double Eleven, whose work you may recall from LittleBigPlanet Vita. The port, titled Frozen Synapse: Tactics, will be available for download on PSN sometime this year.

Frozen Synapse is a turn-based tactical game where players manage units of varying weaponry and skill sets in an attempt to defeat the enemy team's squad; however, unlike most turn-based games, all player actions in Frozen Synapse resolve simultaneously. Once each player sets all their moves, the game then plays it all out at the same time - an atypical yet incredibly original take on the tactics genre.

Alien Breed will crawl, skitter and slither its way to PSN in only a few more days. Team17's classic action game will arrive for download on both PS3 and Vita in Europe on February 6, with a North American release the following week on February 12 - just in time for some Valentine's Day co-op.

The game will feature 30 levels, including 18 levels from the original Amiga versions and 12 new levels. Alien Breed will be available for £6.49, €7.99 or $9.99 depending on the region.

Vlambeer's Luftrausers, the PC and Mac version of free Flash dogfighting game Luftrauser, may come to the Vita and PS3, if Vlambeer and Sony can work out a deal they both like. Vlambeer's previous hit, Super Crate Box, made a splash on the Vita last year.

Unfortunately the bureaucratic process and subsequent extra development time means Luftrausers won't be out before April. Ridiculous Fishing, Vlambeer's other in-development title, should be out for iOS slightly before Luftrausers.

"Basically, what we're trying to say is that we think Ridiculous Fishing is going to move in front of Luftrausers in terms of release, but both of them should be out before three more months," Vlambeer co-founder Rami Ismail writes. Both games will be playable at PAX East, from March 22 - 24 in Boston.

Normally, posting the teaser for some kind of upcoming announcement isn't our jam, as a wink from marketing isn't really news, per se. With Sony's latest move, however, we felt we would make an exception.

Inviting us to "see the future," the above trailer portends a PlayStation announcement set to take place at 6 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, February 20. The promotion's corresponding website has email and birthday entry fields, allowing interested persons to be "the first to know."

Now, we're not going to pretend like we know exactly what this is all about, but we think it's safe to assume we're all thinking the same thing here. Yup, the return of Blasto.

Killer is Dead isn't the only new game announcement out of XSEED. The company randomly decided to reveal a bunch of 2013 releases at once, including the welcome localization of Ys: Memories of Celceta, the first Vita iteration of the long-lived action RPG series. That's coming this fall.

The Vita will also see Valhalla Knights 3 sometime this fall, an action RPG with twenty different job classes for players to equip as they take their parties of seven out on quests.

XSEED is following the successful Steam release of its Ys games with a PC version of Ys I & II Chronicles + in February, a remake of the very first two Ys games. Finally, Rune Factory 4 is due on 3DS this summer, allowing players to choose a male or female protagonist for the first time.

All this is in addition to Pandora's Tower, which was just announced for Wii. XSEED is an industrious little company!

#monsterhunter The Monster Hunter series wasn't always the "monster" (heh heh) hit it is currently. Originally released for the PS2, the first game, Monster Hunter, and its sequel, Monster Hunter G, sold less than a million copies each. It wasn't until the game went hand-held to the PSP with Monster Hunter Portable (Monster Hunter Freedom in the west) that Capcom scored their first million seller with the series. More »

#killzone You can't ever put your complete trust in something until you've got your hands on it - especially when it comes to this franchise and this platform - but still. Even allowing for that, this is looking like a much better effort than other FPS games we've seen on the Vita thus far. More »

The PlayStation Store is now host to a sliver of Sly Cooper with the Thieves in Time demo, a bout of Bayonetta's insanity and, in stark contrast to the titular witch's all-hair outfit, the Hitman Trilogy HD.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City joins the lineup of downloadable PS2 classics for $9.99, while the PlayStation Vita gains Let's Fish! Hooked On, which the PlayStation Blog describes as a "full-scale" fishing game. The temptation to riff on that dreadful/wonderful pun is too great, so we'll just end the post right here.
