It's a new world, and a new Dante. Our take on the rebirth of the Devil May Cry series.

DMC: Devil May Cry's "Bloody Palace" update features an exclusive minigame in which you clean up all the demon blood and ichor Dante leaves everywhere.

That's not true.

It's actually a mode in which Dante fights floor after floor of enemies and bosses, trying to advance through all 100 levels. It's been present in every Devil May Cry save for the first, and features leaderboards in 4 and this new one. So many palaces ruined by blood.

Bloody Palace Mode will make a splash on all versions of the game "shortly after launch."

This CG trailer for Ninja Theory's upcoming Devil May Cry reboot is showing in movie theaters nationwide. The CG actually stands for Creepy Goo; looks like Mulder and Scully didn't do a great job with that particular case. Luckily, Dante is on hand to foreclose that sucker for good, maybe.

A pair of new Japanese trailers for DmC: Devil May Cry show off a bit of both its half-demon brothers, Dante and Vergil. We're not picking favorites, but Dante's video may just be a tad more stylish (death metal notwithstanding).

#devilmaycry Vergil, Dante's twin brother in the Devil May Cry continuity, returns as a playable character in next year's DmC: Devil May Cry. Yesterday Capcom released a couple minutes of gameplay footage in that trailer above, showing Vergil in the DLC extension due shortly after the game launches. It's free if you preorder the game. While Dante oozes style, we just kind of ooze. We could never pull off Dante's flashy pendant seen above. It's free to anyone who purchases a copy of DmC: Devil May Cry through the Capcom store.

Of course, you don't have to wear the pendant. You could just hang it somewhere, or lay it on a table near you while you silently prepare a sandwich during a Devil May Cry 4 installation. Yeah, that's right, we're bringing that gag back.

DmC: Devil May Cry launches on January 15, 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360; and on January 25 for the PC.

Oh we of little faith. When Capcom confirmed that a PC version of Ninja Theory’s DmC: Devil May Cry reboot was in the works, Jim was understandably skeptical about it taking the elevator up from hell around the same time as its console cousins. But Dante’s not like everyone else. He’s a rebel. He wears leather and makes snarky comments and gets branded a “sexual deviant” by news casters on a network named after a dinosaur. So naturally, his new game will come screaming onto PC whenever it damn well pleases. In this case, that’s next month. Hooray!

#devilmaycry This isn't the Son of Sparda at his wise-cracking, sword-swinging best. Instead, Steve Darling's teaser clip for his fan movie about the hero of Capcom's Devil May Cry franchise looks in what the original Dante is doing in his downtime. The old version of the DMC protagonist mainly just walks around and hangs out in this clip but it gives you a sense how much a dude like OG Dante would have stood out in the real world if he actually existed. Neo Dante looks more like somebody you might pass on the street. Maybe that's part of what has some fans so annoyed at the new look. More »

Dante really missed his calling in life - instead of fighting demons in DmC: Devil May Cry, he could simply be the world's greatest juggler. We hear there's good money in juggling!

Not the man standing behind Dante, but the guy who plays and voices Dante in DmC: Devil May Cry. His name is Tim Phillipps and he's an Australian actor who looks right at home in a mo-cap suit. Also, he's definitely Prince Thomas on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

#sony Today, Sony held the "World Game Project" in Akihabara, in which the electronics giant showed off twenty PS3 and PS Vita games. These titles were developed outside Japan, and the point of this hands-on event was to give Japanese gamers a chance to check out titles they might not otherwise and maybe remind them that some big Japanese franchises are now being farmed out to Western devs. More »

As previously noted, Capcom have said that Ninja Theory’s Devil May Cry game, DmC, will appear on Windows. There’s no release date for that, of course, so it’s bound to be well after the January release of the console versions, but it gives me plenty of time (and reason) to link the backlog of videos that we have neglected. With Ninja Theory at the controls there’s good reason to expect this game to be a little different to previous outings – and Capcom purists are already making objectionable honking noises. And it’s looking not looking as ludicrous as the previous games, but it’s still pretty mad. (And I am not a fan of nu-Dante.)

Anyway, lots of gameplay footage below.(more…)

Hello, Dominic Matthews here from Ninja Theory bringing you an update on DmC: Devil May Cry.

First off, I want to tell you about some DmC add-on content that we just announced. Called Vergil’s Downfall, it features six brand new missions, in new environments where you play as Dante’s twin brother Vergil.

Vergil has his own unique combat system (if you know Vergil from the previous games you’ll recognize some of his signature moves) and the story, which is intertwined with the events of the main game, takes place in Vergil’s very own personal hell. Lovely!

You’ll also get to take on new enemies and upgrade Vergil’s combat as you play. Once you’ve completed all the new missions you’ll have four new difficulty modes to unlock including Son of Sparda and Vergil Must Die, both of which feature unique enemy waves and enemy behaviours that are different from those in the three default difficulty settings.

The reason that we’re telling you about this add-on content before the main game is even out is not because it’s finished (because it’s not, there is still a lot of work to be done!), but because we want to offer it to you for free when you pre-order DmC: Devil May Cry.

It will be available to buy if you wish, but if you pre-order the digital version of DmC: Devil May Cry on PSN you’ll get to download Vergil’s Downfall at no additional cost when it is released early next year. So if you like your add-on content meaty and you like it for free, pre-order DmC.

The second piece of news I wanted to give you is that the DmC: Devil May Cry demo will be available to download on PSN starting today. The demo includes two missions: Under Watch, which takes place in the heart of DmC’s city streets, and Secret Ingredient, which is a boss battle against the adorable Succubus demon (you’ll see what I mean when you meet her!).

When you start the demo you’ll have the choice of three default difficulties to select from, but if you complete both missions on one of those three settings you’ll unlock the demo’s Son of Sparda mode. This presents the demo’s hardest challenge, featuring a unique set of tougher enemies and enemy waves to take on.

8198639969_a3a66f75d2_z.jpg

From the start of the demo Dante is equipped with his Rebellion sword, His Ebony and Ivory hand guns, his demonic axe the Arbiter and the angelic scythe Osiris. We wanted to give you a really good feel of how the combat plays so we’ve started you off with quite a few upgrades on all of the weapons in the demo too. Try my personal favourite, the Stinger (forward, forward, triangle). I’ve been stabbing demons in the eye with the Stinger for a couple of years now and I still get a kick out of it.

If you like the demo, pre-order the game on PSN and get Vergil’s Downfall for free. I’ll be taking your questions below – please fire away.

The demo of Ninja Theory's Devil May Cry reboot is now up on Xbox Live for Gold members. PS3 owners have to wait until later today for it to arrive on PSN, unless they're in Europe in which case they'll have to sit on their hands until tomorrow*.

There are two missions in the demo, one of which features a (probably ridiculous) boss battle. One completion of the demo makes the Son of Sparda difficulty available. The full game roars onto Xbox 360 and PS3 on January 15, 2013, and PC at a later date.

*Or bide the time however they choose, we're not picky

The Devil May Cry demo is coming to Xbox Live and PlayStation Network next week, arriving in North America on November 20. As for Europe, it drops the same day on Xbox, but a day after on PS3. Capcom didn't mention a PC demo in its announcement.

The demo offers two missions, including a boss battle. After one completion it unlocks the special 'Son of Sparda' difficulty, which mixes around with enemies' placements as well as making them tougher to beat.
