Telltale's The Walking Dead season finale coming next week

Telltale has announced that the final episode of The Walking Dead game series, subtitled "No Time Left," will be available November 20 on the PlayStation Network in North America, and then on November 21 in the EU alongside Xbox, PC, Mac, and iOS versions. Telltale has said this fifth episode will mark the end of the current story, with more expected to follow.

According to our reviewers, the series has gotten better as it's gone along, and Twitter users seem to indicate the emotional duress of playing it has gone up too. So get those tissues ready, because the story of Lee and Clementine is coming to a close next week.

Chaotic Good: The Walking Dead’s Post-Mortem Mortality

Here’s an interesting notion: Telltale have put out a “stats” trailer for The Walking Dead: Episode Four, which details the choices folks made, making for a sort of post-mortem breakdown of people’s morality within the game. While I won’t any details, it’s interesting that The Walking Dead players are by and large good guys. If you’ve played the game already, I think you will want to take a look to compare with your own choices.

It should go without saying that there are SERIOUS SPOILERS down there. Episode Five should shamble into the crosshairs of our morality math in a few weeks.(more…)

Telltale's The Walking Dead will be available in two forms at retail on December 4: One a decomposed, $30 version that includes just the game for PS3 or Xbox 360, and a bloated, GameStop-exclusive, $70 Collector's Edition. The Collector's Edition includes the complete game, the first 48 issues of the comic in The Walking Dead Compendium One with exclusive cover art by Charlie Adlard, and a special box also slathered in Adlard art.

The Collector's Edition will be "extremely limited" and is available for pre-order only, and the compendium won't be sold anywhere but inside this juicy set, Telltale tells IGN.

Episode Five: No Time Left is set to hit in November.

#thewalkingdead It's no accident that Telltale's The Walking Dead game refers to its five-episode run as a "season." The whole thing is structured quite a bit like a season of television, with the accompanying peaks and valleys. And so it's perhaps not a huge surprise after the operatic highs of the spectacular third episode, episode four, "Around Every Corner," might feel like a bit of a letdown. More »

Walking Dead Episode Four PS3 save issue patched

A "small number" of PS3 players encountered a save glitch when booting up The Walking Dead Episode Four: Around Every Corner, resulting in lost games and decisions. Telltale patched the bug last night on PS3, its Twitter reads.

Telltale previously told us that it was possible to avoid the glitch by "refraining from use of the third save slot in the game menu." That should all be fixed up nicely now, but like the 13th floor of a haunted hotel, maybe you want to avoid that third slot anyway.

We've contacted Telltale regarding potential glitches across other platforms.
Telltale working on fix for corrupt Walking Dead: Episode 4 save files

Players of The Walking Dead on PlayStation 3 have identified a major issue, which decimates save files like so many zombies would our faces. Developer Telltale tells Joystiq they are aware of the issues, causing Walking Dead save files to become corrupt or disappearing in Episode 4, entitled "Around Every Corner."

"We have received a small number of reports surrounding this issue since the launch of Episode Four: Around Every Corner and have been working with users on our forums to clearly identify a solution which will be resolved as quickly as possible," the developer told Joystiq.

Telltale says players can avoid the issue by "refraining from use of the third save slot in the game menu." If players do get a corrupted save error, Telltale recommends returning to the PS3 home screen and wait for an update to be released.

"We are working with our partners at Sony to push the patch to users as quickly as possible, and will update our customers as soon as we have confirmed when the patch has been released." The developer asks any users experiencing this problem to contact them via email to report the bug and identify the problem.
The Walking Dead Episode 4 review: Death is only the beginning

The Walking Dead Episode 4: Around Every Corner promised us two things in the lead-up to its launch: brilliant writing by Book of Eli scribe Gary Whitta, and a dark, nigh-depressing story. The question now is if it delivers on these promises.

Around Every Corner tackles the extremes of child endangerment and mutilation, forces players to slowly and deliberately bury the recently deceased, and it portrays the thoughtless slaughter of the living, by the living. The writing is fraught with tense pauses and biting, yet humane, dialogue among survivors of the zombie apocalypse.

If the question is, "Does Episode 4 live up to its predecessors?" the answer is, "No, it's even better."
