When I first heard about Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure, I had to wonder how the action, rhythm and adventure genres could possibly be combined into a game that made any kind of sense. After spending some hands-on time with the demo at TGS, I had my answer: pretty damn well...

- Raphael's sense of rhythm comes from his mother
- use the stylus and the 3DS’ tilt functions
- top screen shows your dance routine, while the bottom screen displays what motions you need to perform to pull your moves off
- controls differ depending on the situation you're in (sneaking into a location, running from the cops)
- fight a robot enemy at one point, using the dpad
- butler battle uses tilt controls

Today SEGA announced a new rhythm/puzzle hybrid coming exclusively to the Nintendo 3DS. Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure will release in early 2012...
