I sure do love the fact that Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is suffering an arbitrary delay on PC. Makes savoring each promotional morsel all the sweeter, yes indeed. Who needs dumb anchors like a release date and payoff when you can praise the heavens for every little crumb that tumbles your way instead? Wait, no, the other thing: ugggggggggggggggggggghhhhh.

Oh but Garden Warfare’s Battlefield-inspired Gardens and Graveyards mode looks kinda neat I guess.

Like Battlefield 3 before it, Battlefield 4‘s launch hasn’t exactly been graceful. If our baseline metric for grace is a lithe, ethereally beautiful swan, then BF4 thus far has been said swan getting squashed into a writhing mass of meaty chunks by a thousand levolutions. Bugs, glitches, crashes – you name it, BF4 has grappled with it on PC and consoles. DICE, unsurprisingly, is aware that its flagship shootyblam has issues, and has – in the wake of new issues stemming from the China Rising DLC pack – dedicated its full developmental force to making the game, you know, work.

EA DICE will release an update for the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of Battlefield 4 tomorrow, addressing a one-hit kill glitch that has plagued the game since launch, among other fixes and improvements.

The patch will eliminate reported instances of a single bullet dealing damage multiple times upon impact, often resulting in one-hit kills. The PC version will see additional fixes that target audio bugs and screen blurring, while the PS4 patch will enable audio playback in video captures and fix crashes relating to large Friends lists.

The PC patch will deploy at 1:00 a.m. PST on December 3, while the PS4 update will be available "in the afternoon EU time."

Powered by DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine and PS4, Battlefield 4 features stunning visuals, dynamic Levolution moments, and the return of Commander Mode.

Battlefield 4 also takes advantage of the brand new DualShock 4, allowing you to peek and lean from behind cover, as well as look around when you’re behind the wheel of a vehicle. All this combines to let you focus on the chaos of combat.

Want to show the world your own “Only in Battlefield” moments? PS4 has you covered with the new Share functionality, and with Battlefield 4 Remote Play support, take the battle from the big screen to the palm of your hands so that you never miss the action.

With PS4’s North American launch just days away, we wanted to provide a quick update on our experiences with Battlefield 4 and show off our new interview with DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson — watch it below.

On the PS4 multiplayer side, Battlefield 4 boasts an impressive visual presentation, rendering atmospheric lighting and lavish weather effects you won’t see on the PS3 version. The game’s visual variety is a major strength: I waged war across a startling array of environments, from Flood Zone’s waterlogged alleyways to Golmud Railway’s dazzling blue skies and emerald fields. Throughout it all, the multiplayer side zoomed along at or near 60 frames per second, giving the game a brisk, responsive feel that gives the game’s infantry combat a huge shot in the arm.

Of course, vehicular combat is a huge part of Battlefield’s appeal, and BF4’s jets, tanks, jeeps, and boats don’t disappoint. The amphibious combat is particularly interesting, with BF4’s new physics-based wave model adding a new strategic wrinkle to combat on the high seas. With up to 64 players competing on PS4 (plus two Commander roles).

Battlefield 4 lands on PS4 this Friday with the system’s release in North America – if you pick it up, let us know what you think in the comments below!
