Longer combos (and subsequently, higher scores and bigger disappointments) are likely taking place on a virtual skate-park near you, as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD's Revert Pack has successfully landed all four of its polymer wheels on XBLA and PSN.

PC proponents of preposterous push-board performances can expect the DLC to hit Steam "within a couple days," an Activision representative has informed us. Right now though, console kickers can get the download's three Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 levels for 400 MS Points/$4.99. All users, however, will receive the eponymous "revert" ability as a free system update, which allows for combo continuation by linking ground and vertical tricks.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD's "Revert Pack" DLC has been pushed back until the first week of December, Activision has announced on the game's Facebook page. Originally, the DLC pack containing select levels from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 was slated to hit consoles in early November.

"It's later than all of us hoped, and we're sorry about that," the update reads. When it does launch, however, the DLC will be available on 360, PS3 and PC, as the Steam version of the game is now available. If nothing else, the delay will at least allows more time for our shattered knee-caps to heal after trying to do some of this stuff in real life. Getting hit by a speeding golf cart can do a lot of damage, as it turns out.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is on Steam for PC right now. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is normally $10, but now through the end of the month it's down 10 percent to $9.

The PC version doesn't include the multiplayer modes - local or online - featured in the XBLA and PSN versions that launched earlier this year. Tony Hawk's Steam release includes four single-player modes and new objectives.

The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 HD Revert Pack will hit as DLC for $5 soon after release, and includes three levels from that original game.

The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 DLC for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD still doesn't have an official release date, but at least we can take a gander at what two of its three levels look like in action. The videos, both above and after the break, show off the $5 DLC pack's Airport and Los Angeles levels (respectively), as well as its exclusive revert move.

The third level's location remains a mystery at the moment, as do the identities of the pro skaters that will also be included in the DLC, but what we do know is that riding a skateboard like that in an airport would get you thrown in prison, or jail, or both.

In related news, THPSHD launches on PSN today, nearly six weeks after its original release as an Xbox Live Summer of Arcade jam back in July. When asked if he was excited about the PSN version, a random skateboard person in front of our bank did a kickflip and called us a "suit," which we think is street lingo for "You bet!"

Tired of replaying old Tony Hawk PlayStation games on your PS3? You'll be able to play a kinda new version soon. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD will arrive on PSN August 28.

"The PC version will come soon after," developer Robomodo said on its Facebook page. "Exact date to be shared as soon as we know it." The game was a timed exclusive on Xbox 360 last month as part of the Summer of Arcade, where it has met with success.

Hi everyone. Finally, we can talk about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD for PS3. We are so grateful for everyone’s patience on this, and we want to make sure you all know that everyone at Robomodo and Activision has been busting their butts to get it out there. Now we can safely announce that after a lot of hard work, sweating and some crying (just a little), the game will be released August 28th on PSN in North America.

Game development is probably the hardest form of entertainment to put together, and making sure a game plays well across different machines is way tougher than anyone can imagine. If there was a “Make PS3” button, we would’ve been tempted to hit that a long time ago. But we wanted to take the time to fix a few things and make sure that the PS3 experience is everything it can be.

The wait has been excruciating for us. We know that the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series has historically been very tightly tied to PlayStation consoles. For me, it was a key game in my career. In 1999 I had just left my first game development job, so I and a few others broke off and started a new studio. The day we left, we were at a friend’s house and he brought out Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater for the original PlayStation. We popped the disk in, and I immediately felt like this was the game the system was made for. There were plenty of other great games on PlayStation, but it felt like Neversoft crafted this one specifically for this hardware. My statement at the time: “I would kill to make a game like this!”

Now fast forward 13 years, and here we are with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD for PS3. It’s the best parts of the first two games in the Pro Skater series combined with the polish and technology of 2012 – and online play. Even better, DLC is coming that includes levels from THPS3, new pros, and the revert! It’s truly a game that we feel brings two generations of players together, and both will feel like it’s “their game.”

By bringing this to the PS3, it really feels like we are bringing both the Tony Hawk series and PlayStation gaming full circle. We can’t wait for you to start playing and destroying each other’s scores! If you find us online, please be gentle.

Here is a full list of features for THPS HD and some info on the upcoming DLC:

  • HD Upgrade: We polished and rebuilt the game using Neversoft’s original level models.
  • Classic levels: The style and feel of the seven best levels from THPS and THPS2 (Warehouse, School 2, Mall, Phoenix, Hangar, Marseilles and Downhill Jam) refreshed for today. Tony Hawk himself put a call out to his fans on Twitter during the summer of 2011 to decide the final levels. The levels are exactly the same specs as the originals – every gap, SKATE Letter, etc is exactly where you remember it — but it looks a hell of a lot better!
  • The Top Pros: Today’s biggest skate pros round out the cast including: Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole, Eric Koston, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins Pastrana, Riley Hawk and, of course, Tony Hawk himself. Each has eight boards, three special moves, and an alternate outfit.
  • Refined controls: The skaters’ animations, tricks and combos reflect the evolution of the THPS games. Animations are improved, the tricks have been redone (and some new special tricks added), and we even added “skater celebrations” for big combos.
  • Manuals and Reverts: Read closely! You can do manuals as part of trick combos in THPS HD. Given the fact that this game combines the best gameplay from THPS1 and THPS2, Reverts will not work as part of trick combos in the initial launch of THPS HD, as that mechanic was not introduced until THPS3. However, reverts will work in the post-release DLC for the THPS3 levels, as those levels were originally designed to accommodate this.
  • Endlessly fun objectives: Players pursue the same global and level-specific goals as the original games, including S-K-A-T-E, Secret DVD (used to be VHS tape!), and many more.
  • Soundtrack: About half classic THPS tracks and half new ones. Includes classics like Goldfinger’s “Superman” and the Anthrax/PE collab “Bring the Noise”.
  • Online multiplayer: Four modes (Trick Attack, Graffiti, Big Head Elimination, Free Skate), plus online leaderboards. eight high score leaderboards (one per level plus one all levels combined). “Target Score” included as well, so you can see next highest score for you to beat to move up in the leaderboard in the HUD.
  • Downloadable content: Coming post-release, will be three levels from THPS3 (Airport, LA, and Canada) as well as new pros including Steve Caballero. The revert will work in these levels!
  • In Game Map View: Pause and see the location of objectives and gaps.
  • Over 15 Trophies
  • Quick Restart: Select button allows you to quickly restart a session. Perfect for the obsessive gamer who is looking to achieve the perfect combo.
  • Facebook Bragging Rights: Friends can see what level you have played and your score in Facebook.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD managed to move into 120,000 hard drives during its first week on Xbox Live Arcade. Robomodo head honcho Josh Tsui told Gamasutra that early success will eventually lead to a "fuller game."

"By making it 'lower risk' we were allowed to take some chances, which benefits both developer and publisher," Tsui said. He also noted that "the prospect of a fuller game is definitely on the table" and that it's "just a matter of when and how."

Of course, first thing's first: PC and PS3 ports of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD are still waiting in the wings, as is some DLC focused around Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. But after that, Tsui seems to think Activision will be more open to publishing a new game.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD was clearly a good business call, as the franchise update earned 120,000 sales during its first week on XBLA. Developer Robomodo shared the detail with Gamasutra, noting the sales have remained "consistent" since launch.

The game will make its way to PSN in late August and later this year for PC. In our deja review of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, we praised the game's enhancements and commitment to ye olde ollies."

We're of the firm opinion that your time is too precious, too valuable to be spent reading a full review for a game that was already reviewed many, many years ago. What's the point of applying a score to a game that's old enough to be enrolled in the sixth grade? That's why we invented Deja Review: A quick look at the new features and relative agelessness of remade, revived and re-released games. If you played the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, you probably remember exactly when you got your first million points on Warehouse. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD allows us all to relive that memory while simultaneously bringing the games that started it all to a new audience. Thanks to developer Robomodo's careful recreation of seven select levels from the first two Pro Skater games, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD evokes a strong sense of nostalgia.

It plays just like you remember; that secret spot where you pushed your score (and your board) skyward is there, waiting for you to discover it all over again.

Above, you see Tony Hawk grinding down a pipe. Nothing out of the ordinary there. In actuality, though, it's Tony Hawk grinding down a pipe on a PC in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD. You'll excuse us if we've totally blown your mind.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is heading to PC, though Robomodo isn't offering a date just yet - it will arrive "later this summer." Expect to see it a few weeks after it hits Xbox Live Arcade this July.

In honor of today's news, Activision released two new trailers and a batch of screens, below and beyond the break.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is a remake of two classic games, rebuilt by Robomodo in Unreal Engine with excellent accuracy. It brings back several classic modes for multiplayer (now supporting four players, online only) but adds a new throwback to the earlier days of gaming.

Activision has confirmed to Joystiq that the $5 DLC arriving roughly a month after the launch of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD will bring back the revert, a kind of bridge move introduced in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 that allows players to chain together combos they couldn't otherwise in previous games. But there's one catch: revert will only work within the DLC, and will not be a compatible mechanic in the core Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD game.

Yesterday, Activision told us Airport will be one of the THPS 3 levels to make the cut in the DLC, and that several more skate pros will be added as part of the $5 DLC pack.

On July 18, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD kicks off the Summer of Arcade on Xbox Live. Around 30-45 days after launch, a $5 DLC pack will be added, full of select content from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3.

Activision reps couldn't get into specifics on exactly what would be added, but we at least know Airport is one of the levels that made the cut, and that more pros will be included. If this all sounds familiar, it's because the Hawk himself pegged other games in the series as potential sources of DLC for Pro Skater HD.

Neo-pagan idol Dave Lang, pictured because we can't mention Wreckateer without showing a picture of Dave Lang.

The summer solstice is very nearly upon us. That is, of course, the longest day of the year, which has traditionally been celebrated by a variety of European and pagan cultures via fertility festivals and bonfires dating back centuries. Microsoft is not a culture (probably the opposite, really), but even the Xbox 360 maker is getting in on the celebration by dressing up its Summer of Arcade 2012 lineup in its best virginal whites, and writing out the release dates and prices in beautiful flower arrangements. This offering, meant to appease the neo-pagan goddess of sorcery, sex, and downloadable console games, also happens to act as a useful tool for announcing the aforementioned prices and release dates. Here they are, in non-floral form:

  • July 18: Tony Hawk HD - 1200 MSP
  • July 25: Wreckateer - 800 MSP
  • August 1: Deadlight - 1200 MSP
  • August 8: Hybrid - 1200 MSP
  • August 15: Dust: An Elysian Tail 1200 MSP

While I personally would probably rather celebrate the solstice by lighting bonfires or feasting for days, I must admit I am excited to get my hands on a couple of those titles. Especially Tony Hawk and Deadlight. Any in there that you plan to pick up? And while we're at it, what neo-pagan rituals do you plan to engage in during this Midsummer celebration week? Share with the group! Unless it involves nudity, in which case maybe just keep it to yourself.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD had an announced July launch date for a brief moment on Xbox.com. Screencapped by XBLAFans, the game received a July 11 release date on Microsoft's site, which is a little bit later than the previous June window given by Mr. Hawk himself.

We've been pretty worried about the fate of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD's soundtrack after we caught word that the remake probably wouldn't have all of the songs featured in the first two Pro Skater titles, stemming from licensing issues and whatnot. Now that the complete soundtrack has been released, though, we're feeling a little more confident about hitting the asphalt goofy-style once more.

The complete track list can be found after the break, and we're glad to say that "Superman" by Goldfinger and "When Worlds Collide" by Powerman 5000 are both present and accounted for. The new replacement tracks include stylistically appropriate songs such as "Flyentology" by hip-hop artist El-P (featuring Trent Reznor). El-P once featured on the Del the Funky Homosapien track "Offspring," and Del's song "If You Must" was on the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 soundtrack. If we're playing by Six Degrees of Separation rules, we can call that a winner.

Soon to be in HD, mayhaps?

After everyone got done celebrating the announcement of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, Activision and Robomodo's HD update of Tony Hawk's Pro Skaters 1 and 2, attention was turned to the question of why, exactly, only levels from those two games would be included. While Robomodo has been cherry picking levels from those two games based on fan feedback, Tony Hawk 3, AKA one of the highest reviewed games in the history of ever, wasn't even on the ballot box.

Activision answered that question today by announcing that Tony Hawk HD will get Tony Hawk 3 levels after all... as DLC. Initially, DLC wasn't even something that had been announced for the game, but now it appears that following the game's launch, a selection of levels from Tony Hawk 3 will get the HD treatment.

Which levels? Nobody knows! Robomodo hasn't made any decisions on that front yet, and won't until they've surveyed fan feedback once again. The company put up a thread on the game's Facebook page--don't worry, you don't have to "like" anything--where fans can post their suggestions for the levels they'd like to see included. I have two words for Robomodo that actually should be one word: Air. Port.

Unfortunately, the "revert" maneuver, which made its debut in Tony Hawk 3, won't be in the game, which all but ensures that our own Jeff Gerstmann will curse its existence until his dying breath.

Robomodo's Unreal Engine-powered remake Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD will drop in on Xbox Live and PSN this June, Tony Hawk himself has revealed. He took to Twitter to announce the launch window, as he is wont to do.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is a remake featuring select levels from the first two games, which originally debuted on the PSOne. Tony has said that, depending on the HD remake's reception, we could see other past levels added - Hawk even envisions Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD as a platform for completely new content.

While old-school skating fans are no doubt itching to pick up Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, it turns out that the idea of an HD remake is actually several years old. Hawk pitched the idea years ago, the skater recently told IGN, although Activision originally turned the project down because "it wasn't the right time."

Now, through the magic of digital distribution, Hawk wants to see Pro Skater HD become a platform unto itself. We knew that other popular levels from the series could be released as downloadable content for Pro Skater HD, but Hawk is hoping to see new content released as well, including levels, skaters and even new tricks.

It's worth noting that Activision is apparently taking a "wait and see" approach to downloadable content for Pro Skater HD. When asked about the possibility of DLC earlier this year, a spokesperson told Joystiq, "Activision will see how THPS HD does and go from there."
