Bruce Campbell made cameo appearances in the 2000s Spider-Man movie series because of his connection to director Sam Raimi. He also appeared in the video games based on those movies, thanks to that same connection.

Now another director is making a different Spider-Man movie starring a different actor as a different version of the character. And Bruce Campbell is in the game based on that movie because ... people like Bruce Campbell, we guess?

Campbell plays a guy in a blimp who orders you to do stunts.

We already knew that Stan Lee's cameo fixation would be seen in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man game. At the time, we could only imagine what a playable elderly gentleman, filling in for Peter Parker, might look like. Today we can see it in horrifying detail.

With great power comes great responsibility. Also: a pretty great way to get around NYC when you miss the bus.

Of all the cross-species facing off against Spider-Man, none features a more cold, menacing appearance than Scorpion – and for good reason. Normally reserving his genius toward his specialty in nuclear science, Oscorp physicist Dr. Otto Octavius dug into Curt Connors’ research as quickly as it became available to him. Not satisfied with simply infusing human DNA into a highly venomous black fat-tailed scorpion, Octavius also threw in a touch of a mysterious, organic “black goo” of unknown origin, which Oscorp had recently retrieved from one of the company’s fallen satellites in secret. The result was Scorpion, an experiment Octavius also would affectionately refer to as “MAC” (as in, “my astonishing creation” – he thought it was clever, anyway…).
CHARACTER BIO

Incredibly agile and twice as strong as Spider-Man himself, this personification of everything Alistaire Smythe aims to annihilate also boasts the ability to grab prey with one hand, then cut it in half with the pincer on the other. Scorpion’s stinger houses the most toxic venom the world has ever seen, and he has been known to project it from long distances as well. As if that weren’t lethal enough, he’s just as likely to whip victims with his tail, which itself slings freely at ninety miles per hour.

Octavius was particularly pleased with one unexpected side effect of the “extra element” he added: No other cross-species derived outside of a human subject possesses anywhere near the intellect of Scorpion. A quick glance at his stoic face reveals his instinctively cunning nature, which in turn has prompted Scorpion to concentrate closely on – even learn, to a certain degree – human speech patterns. Though he currently “speaks” in unintelligible squeals, it seems only a matter of time before the humanity within in him surfaces fully, including at least some degree of intelligent communication with (likely soon-to-be-dead) humans.

#spiderman Not sure how I feel about "web rush" having seen this latest trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man. I'm sure everyone's going to call this a quicktime event mechanic, and that sequence where Spidey taps the stooge on the shoulder and then wraps him up does look scripted. More »

Spider Man games are, generally speaking, made or broken by how satisfying it is to traverse New York City as your Friendly Neighborhood Spider Man. Slingin' webs is the essence of that fantasy, second only to being an accomplished journalist. That's why everyone likes Spider Man, right? The journalism?

Beenox's solution for The Amazing Spider Man, the "Web Rush," pulls double duty as both locomotive and combative solution by slowing down time, thus allowing the player to select their next web-oriented target of interest. Slowing down time will also be helpful for making J. Jonah Jameson's incredibly strict deadlines, which we know you're also concerned about. No one ever said the life of a genetically enriched photojournalist would be easy.

These two pre-order bonuses for The Amazing Spider-Man couldn't be more different: One has players rampage through Manhattan as Rhino, the hulking, horned villain, and the other has players run around as an old man as he tries to collect some papers he's misplaced, yapping non-stop about "kids these days" and Liza Minelli's golden era.

GameStop's pre-order bonus is The Rhino Challenge, a timed destruction event where players suit up as Rhino and break as much stuff as possible. Amazon's bonus is "Play as Stan Lee for the First Time Ever," and has players travel through Manhattan as the Marvel mastermind himself. He uses special abilities borrowed from Spider-Man to collect pages from his latest script, punctuated by "witty banter." A "special surprise" is revealed at the end of the Stan Lee mission, tied into Spider-Man's 50th anniversary this year.
