Along with its earnings release, Nintendo issued updated life-to-date sales totals for its currently released hardware. The 3DS reached 19 million units worldwide as of June 30 - coming up on the GameCube's lifetime 21.74 million quickly, and beating Nintendo's earlier 18.5 million projection. Its predecessor, the DS, continues to widen its lead over every other platform ever, at 152.05 million. And the Wii creeps toward 100 million, with a worldwide total of 96.56 million units.

As for quarterly sales, Nintendo typically issues a list of games that sold at least one million copies in the period. This list usually includes a lot of "evergreen" games, like Wii Fit, New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart Wii. Surprisingly, for the quarter that ended June 2012, only one game made the list: Pokemon Black Version 2/White Version 2, which sold 2.45 million copies, including 30,000 outside of Japan - despite not being released outside of Japan.

Return to the captivating Unova region two years after the events of the original Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version games — the first time in the core Pokémon game series that a storyline has continued from one game to another. In the Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 games, players can explore new areas, discover Gyms with new leaders and see how everything has changed in the last two years.

FEATURES:

The Unova region has changed and grown in the two years since the original Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version games. The first towns players travel through are completely new, and some characters from the previous games have grown and moved into different roles.

In Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, players will also be able to catch some of the Pokémon from outside the Unova region, such as Eevee, Riolu, Tyranitar, Arcanine and Mareep, right from the start of the game.

Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 feature the Pokémon World Tournament, an exciting battle arena where players will be able to take on numerous Gym Leaders and Champions from previous Pokémon video games. Fans of the series will be able to battle trainers like Lance, Champion from the Johto Region, and Volkner, Gym Leader from the Sinnoh Region. Players can also use a variety of battle styles and moves found in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 against these classic opponents.

In addition to this new series installment, the downloadable Pokédex 3D Pro and Pokémon Dream Radar will both be coming to the Nintendo eShop, giving Nintendo 3DS players new ways to catch and learn about their favorite Pokémon.

Pokémon Dream Radar lets players use several different features of the Nintendo 3DS system, including the Nintendo 3DS camera, motion control and augmented-reality technology, to discover and catch Pokémon. The game includes hard-to-find Pokémon such as the new Therian Formes of Legendary Pokémon Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus. Players can transfer Pokémon they have caught with Pokémon Dream Radar into their Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 games (visible in 2D only).

Pokédex 3D Pro is a fully enhanced and upgraded version of the original Pokédex 3D application that includes detailed information about the more than 640 Pokémon featured in the history of the Pokémon video game series. Pokédex 3D Pro will include in-depth sorting, comparison and ranking tools, as well as comprehensive details on what abilities each Pokémon can learn and how it evolves.

Nintendo announced this morning Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2 will arrive October 7 on North American shores. UK copies will be held in quarantine until October 12 (gotta check the Pokemons for ticks).

Coinciding with the launch dates, Nintendo will also release into the digital wilds Pokemon Dream Radar on the 3DS eShop. The augmented-reality "shooter" allows trainers to find Pokemon around their homes to transfer into Black 2 and White 2.

New locations are accessible in the game, including an underwater tube for travel and the sewers beneath Castelia.

Your journey starts in a new town called Aspertia City, located in southwest of the Unova region. The Japanese name is Hiougi Town.

The Unova Pokedex features 300 Pokemon from the start. Unlike Black and White, the game will allow you to capture monsters from previous generation right from the start.

Black Kyurem will know the move Freeze Shock. White Kyurem will know the move Ice Burn. Black Kyurem is related to legendary monster Zekrom and White Kyurem is related to legendary monster Reshiram.

There will be new forms of the three roaming Pokemon from Black and White: Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus. Their forms can be changed by giving them the "Reflecting Mirror" item to hold.

The game features a new story that takes place 2 years after BW, involving a new version of Team Plasma. Characters from the first game return, such as Cheren, Bianca, and N.
All of the gyms are either modified, as in the case of Elesa's electric gym in Nimbasa City (now a fashion runway, not a roller coaster), or new (such as Cheren's normal gym).

The Pokewood movie-making minigame is a new feature to go along with Pokemon Musicals.

Previous Gym Leaders and Champions from other regions can be battled in the World Tournament. Participants include Red, Blue, Lance, Misty, Steven, Cynthia, and several more.

Keldeo obtains an alternate form by learning the move "Sacred Sword."
Iris replaces Alder as the Unova Region Champion.
