#e32012 You might be wondering what Tecmo Koei's got up its corporate sleeves after Ninja Gaiden 3 chopped its way release earlier this year. Well, it's a good thing that E3's right around the corner so that we can find out. The folks who put out lots and lots of Dynasty Warriors games have put the word out on what they'll be showing. It's, uh, mostly Dead or Alive 5, with that Pokemon Conquest game and RPG title Mugen Souls. And as always, keep in mind that this is just what they're telling us now. There might be some surprises come next week. More »

A portion of a Nintendo-Gamer review...

Strategy fans might enjoy the post-game content, although getting there could prove tedious. But for genre novices and serious Poké-fans it’s basic, but surprisingly addictive, and you know what? It really does make feudal Japan more interesting. Take that, history teachers.

I was more than a little excited when I was tasked with tackling a preview for Tecmo Koei and Nintendo's crossover DS title Pokemon Conquest last week.

Conquest crosses the worlds of cute indentured monster servants from Pokemon with Nobunaga's Ambition, a series of Koei strategy games revolving around the bloody unification of feudal Japan by Oda Nobunaga. But Pokemon Conquest, which released in Japan last month as Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition, takes itself so seriously as a strategy role-playing game that it isn't the irreverent experience I made it out to be in my mind.

A portion of an ntower review...

You pay 40 Euros and get a game for an old handheld which comes with an enormous range of things to do and which can be played for over 100 hours, if you get a hang at the way of playing it. The graphics are really nice, every single one of the 200 Pokémon is picked very carefully from the available ones (I really LOVE the final Boss-Pokémon!). The soundtrack fits the game perfectly.

It’s a new way to play Pokémon in a land filled with Warriors and Pokémon and the ties that bind them together.

The main action of the game takes place on the battlefield where Pokémon fight in a turn-based, tactical battle system.

Be a Warlord, and control your Pokémon in battle! As a Warlord, you command other Warriors and their Pokémon in your army.

All Warriors have special abilities they can use to help their Pokémon in battle, but Warriors are there to command the Pokémon on the field of battle. It is their Pokémon that move, fight, attack on the field of battle.

Recruit Warlords and Warriors by defeating them in a unique battle system never seen in a Pokémon game. As you acquire castles, new Pokémon, Warlords, and Warriors become available as well as new ways to train them.

When battles are won, you take control of the new castle, recruit Warriors from that kingdom, and gain access to new Pokémon.

How would you like to be Oda Nobunaga right now? First, you're turned into a cartoon character who plays second fiddle to imaginary forest critters in a video game for children, and then your name is bumped out of the title of said video game in North America.

And on top of that annoyance, you've been dead for 430 years.

For the rest of us who aren't 16th-century warlords, Nintendo released two trailers for Pokémon Conquest, and some new screens.

Yes, that's a factual headline above: Nintendo is publishing the bizarre crossover of Pokemon Plus Nobunaga's Ambition in the US as "Pokemon Conquest" for the Nintendo DS. And yes, you also read that right -- Pokemon Conquest marks the second Pokemon game heading to the DS in 2012 rather than the 3DS (Pokemon Black/White Version 2 being the other).

Unlike main series Pokemon games, Tecmo Koei handled development rather than Game Freak. Conquest is also a 2D adventure set in the world of Ransei, where players inhabit "a young warlord who is linked with a Pokemon." Pokemon Conquest arrives on June 18.

Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition is headed to Western store shelves as Pokemon Conquest this June. Previously described as "the craziest Pokemon game you've ever seen," Pokemon Conquest is set in feudal Japan. The game is a crossover with Tecmo Koei's Nobunaga's Ambition strategy series and follows...
