Suffice it to say, if you're a Madden NFL fan and you own a Wii U, this is definitely a title you're going to want to at least consider adding to your game library.

#madden Nothing deleted from Twitter is ever deleted on time, and sometime between Monday and Tuesday, a disillusioned former Madden developer figured that out. By then, his unvarnished rant tossed a dripping slab of red meat to Madden's many Internet enemies, and it didn't win the author much support from his old friends. More »

#madden An update to Madden NFL 13 rolling out tomorrow will deliver something called "Draft Duels" to Madden Ultimate Team, the game's hybrid fantasy team/card collecting mode. In it, players will open packs of cards, construct a team from their holdings—and their opponent's—and then duke it out in a standard multiplayer game. More »

A portion of a Shacknews review...

The Wii U's incarnation of the annual football series, with its well thought-out Game Pad implementation, is more like Robert Griffin III--an exciting rookie with the potential to become something great as quickly as next year.

Fixing the frameskip, making greater use of the GamePad—especially in team management menus—and the inclusion of the physics engine are mandatory come August 2013. The absence of any of those will result in lower marks for Madden 14 on Wii U than on its older high-definition rivals.

A portion of an NWR review...

...Madden NFL 13 on Wii U shows the potential for football games on the system. The GamePad could be something special for sports games, giving you that extra layer of control and depth, while also offering Off-TV Play. Madden on Wii U isn’t superlative this year, but I would keep an eye on this series; the potential is there, it just hasn’t been fully tapped.

#madden When it released, Madden NFL 13's new "Connected Careers" mode forbade the editing of any player. This was somewhat understandable, as the roster is used by others online and changes can affect the outcomes of games elsewhere in your league. It was still rather Draconian, as it meant you could not edit your own created player, so if you happened to give him a helmet with no facemask, well, that's what he was wearing until he went into Canton. Much can change in four years, but apparently President Barack Obama's campaign avenues haven't. For his upcoming campaign towards a second term as President of the United States, Obama will once again advertise through video games - specifically, EA games.

Madden NFL 13 across various consoles and other undisclosed EA games are on deck to dish out Obama ads, including EA's casual games portal Pogo and EA Mobile games like Tetris, Scrabble and Battleship. These ads will show up for gamers in Ohio, Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, New Hampshire and Virginia.

Four years ago, Obama paid $44,500 for in-game advertising in Burnout Paradise and other games. You can see some mock-ups in our gallery below.

This year's annual EA Sports installment Madden NFL 13 has shown a greater awareness for penetrating the line and sacking your wallet. That's football speak for: Madden NFL 13 sold a lot in its first week - 1.65 million copies, to be exact - and set a launch week sales record for the franchise this console generation.

That's an eight percent increase over Madden NFL 12's launch, which moved 1.4 million copies in its first week. Not only that, but EA reports Madden NFL 13 had way more online-connected gamers over the previous installment - over 1.4 million players jumped online and compared to last year's game; 31 percent more online games were played in that launch week span.
