Those eager to cobble together monumental structures in virtual reality will be sad to hear that Minecraft is no longer likely to be developed for the Oculus Rift officially.
In August we reported on a series of tweets from Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson in which the developer stated that he was "VERY excited" by the potential of the Oculus Rift headset. Now that Facebook has acquired Oculus Rift, Persson is singing a different, decidedly unhappy tune. "We were in talks about maybe bringing a version of Minecraft to Oculus," Persson tweeted. "I just cancelled that deal. Facebook creeps me out."
We've reached out to Persson for more information on why exactly the social networking giant creeps him out. In the meantime, those especially hard up for some blocky virtual world building may want to take a look at Minecrift, a Minecraft modification that adds Oculus Rift support to the existing version of Mojang's indie hit.
Update: In lieu of responding directly to press inquiries, Persson has posted a lengthy explanation of his issues with Facebook which we've quoted in part below.

Last week's debut of the Garden Variety DLC for PopCap's Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare brought mixed reactions. Players appreciated that the addition is available free of charge, but they were less than pleased with the bugs that have been causing the third-person shooter to crash on consoles.
Since initial bug reports began streaming in, PopCap's tech staff has been working to alleviate the problems. Last Friday, the developer released a patch that should have cleared up any issues with the Xbox One version of the DLC, though the Xbox 360 game remains partially hobbled.
PopCap creative director Justin Wiebe has been fielding reports on Twitter. Though Wiebe has yet to offer a specific timeline for when the Xbox 360 bugs will be squashed, his most recent tweet on the topic offers players hope. "We have a potential fix submitted for testing," Wiebe wrote. "If the tests go well X360 should be back to norm soon. Fingers crossed!"
We've contacted PopCap and publisher EA for further information on the status of the DLC. We'll report back as soon as we hear anything.

Microsoft has rolled out a slate of new entertainment apps on Xbox Live, giving Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners access to a broader variety of sports, competitive gaming, and film offerings.
Starting this week, Xbox Live Gold members can keep up with live-broadcast tournaments and other competitive gaming events via the Xbox 360's Major League Gaming app. Major League Gaming launched its own dedicated e-sports network last year, serving up competitive gaming streams at up to 1080p resolution.
Xbox 360 owners can access new film catalogs via the Encore Play and Movieplex Play apps starting this week, while MLB.TV Premium will deliver live games and league archives to subscribers on the Xbox One. Microsoft notes that its Encore Play, Movieplex Play, and EPIX apps are also scheduled to hit the Xbox One in the coming months.

The latest act to join guitar tutor Rocksmith 2014 is Matchbox Twenty, a band you'll recall from the soundtrack of nearly every romantic comedy released in the latter part of the 1990s.
Included in this latest DLC offering are five songs: "Unwell," "Push," "3AM," "How Far We've Come" and "She's So Mean." Like the prior Rocksmith DLC releases, which showcased bands such as Weezer and Oasis, all five of these tracks can be purchased for $12. If you'd rather pick up a few songs piecemeal, each is individually priced at $3.
The Matchbox Twenty DLC is currently available for every incarnation of Rocksmith 2014, whether its on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or PC. According to publisher Ubisoft, Rocksmith 2014 can teach novices to play guitar in only 60 days, which should give you just enough time to assemble a band, book a few gigs, then watch the whole thing collapse due to drugs, sexy groupies and the prying eyes of the E! True Hollywood Story.

The announcement of today's PAX East presentation for the game may sound fun, but Ubisoft has since confirmed that the demo is hands-off. Maybe that Wii U delay isn't such a bad thing!
