Now, we're not necessarily going to make our "franchise" games in that style, but we'll take what we know and have learned -- the philosophy behind those games -- and incorporate it into franchise games. That's a philosophy that's very strong at Nintendo.

No, dammit! The only way you can make a game accessible to "non-gamers" is to dumb it down to the point where it's unplayable for the hardcore gamers. You can't please everyone, but they're trying to please the casuals with games like Wii Music and shit like that. That's enough. Why bastardize their flagship series in favor of being more casual-friendly? Oh yea, because we're not the ones giving them buckets of money.

I don't think they'll reduce the quality of a product just for it to be accessible by anyone. The sense I get it, they'll try to involve the buttons already less than they are involved, thought, frankly, I don't think my mom would play a Zelda game.

that's it right there, SSSS-BLAM...

I don't see what they could do to make Zelda "more accessible" without making it easier in general or dumbing down the controls.

They already dumbed down a Zelda game:

Minish Cap.

Way too easy, even for a portable game.

That's more what I have in mind.

When speaking of Zelda games, difficulty is never, ever, EVER an issue. Heck, the first TLoZ is considered "hard as hell", but for many gamers this was their very first game.

And when considering that Zelda's most potential market are undying hardcore Zelda fans, it would be illogical to literally change direction toward a public that isn't interested by the Zelda franchise at all.

See also: Twilight Princess. The only boss I lost more than 5 hearts against was Ganondorf, and that was mainly because it took me a few minutes to figure out his pattern.

EDIT: Oh, and the room with the 3 armored knights in that one cave.

I think that Zelda games are pretty hard. Maybe because I'm not that good at solving puzzles.

Casual Zelda?!? What the *crag*! If nintendo takes Zelda and ruins it by making it casual I'll lose all faith in them. I really really really hope they don't do this. D:

It's official. Nintendo's eventually going to become 100% casual. Way to sink your own ship, Nintendo.
