Okay, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an incident a long time ago where a new user PMed lots of people really really [M] porn and got in trouble for it?
Before I took a break from the website, I received a PM that was pretty heavy on flame, and when I asked a mod to strike the sender, they told me it wasn't within their jurisdiction to punish for PMs.
Why is that? You can't say that the first instance was punishable because porn was against the rules, because flaming is ALSO against the rules; at least, I thought it was. And if it was because of the mass PM-ing that made it a strikeworthy offense...well, that's just stupid. It's like saying one person can email you really [M] porn or flame every day, but not be striked because they're not picking on everyone else.
And to justify, NO, I was not in an argument with the sender of the PM and am making this topic to be a 'sore loser lol' or anything. The message came out of nowhere and was not the nicest thing to have to read.
I'd at least like some answers to my questions, and some feedback for this question: If PMs aren't strikeable, should we make them so? |

The [M] porn could be dealt with via a Prison Key, while a flame PM is only deserving of a strike, I guess. |

But a strike wasn't given. I was told that PMs were private and couldn't be striked for. |

They should have a report button, and only have it count if one is reported. As well, it should show the history of private messaging they've had with that other person to see if it was provoked. |

Yeah, but it's impossible to strike a person if they don't make a post, to my understanding. D: I don't know why we can't just go into their profile and strike them. ( Things in the chat should be striked too. >:C ) |

Francis has stated in the past that a person cannot be punished for what is posted in a PM.
Though I'm sure their are exceptions, if you are flammed in a single PM I'm pretty sure there is nothing to be done about it. |

But that's a flaw in the rules anyone could exploit. Other websites have features to report messages; what would happen if one user signed up and started sending another user vulgar hate mail every day? |

I think there is a difference between vulgarity and an insult.
And as Frozen said that is what a jail key is for. |

Thus, why we need cbox mods to remove the offenders from the cbox first, then another mod can strike them.
Actually, mods really should have an option to strike via Profile. Then, things like cbox flame or PM flame could be stricken, even without a post made. |

All that does is give the mod the ability to strike without giving proper evidence which the post provides.
The fact is, this could all be solved if we just dropped the strike system all together. |

Well, telling someone they should die is kind of more than an insult. |

No, not really.
I don't see how it is, unless they actually threatened you. |

Well if it was a mindless flame meant to make you feel like shit, it should be punishable, but if the person did it for a reason, and it actually made sense, I see no reason for it to be punished. |

So saying I should die is for a good reason because I'm a, quote, 'stupid emo', and that makes perfect sense?
Forget it, nobody's going to want to support this because it lets them flame the shit out of each other without consequence, and nobody else will take it seriously now that Popple's declared it a dumb idea. Lock topic, please. |
