how about every topic has a button where you cna vote towards (or against) deleting it. if it gets 10 points towards deletion, it is automatically deleted.

I'd say that's a pretty good idea.

poll addinated

I was originally thinking 5, but decided it was to easy to group attack.

It's easy to group attack with 10 as well. There's really no way of doing this fairly unless you only give power to a very small group of people, the mods.

I stand by my opinion that mods are really the only way to go, considering that people may also vote selfishly or because of the author of the topic.

no! I refuse to have mods, it makes the people who aren't mods feel unrespected. why not reverse the idea, by dis-allowing certain people from doing it who can't be trusted, instead of vice versa?

How would you gauge someone's trust level? The amount of time they've been on the site? The amount of time out of the Prison and the Underwhere? Just by opinion alone?

The traditional moderator system works the best.

it's quite simple... if someone abuses it, or they are clearly untrustable from the beginning(*coughlordbowsercough*) then they can't vote for deletion.

and if we do end up with mods, there should be a voting system.

and I still think both is the best choice now.... even if I voted yes...

regardless... this took some thought...

Having both doesn't make much sense to me.

Let me go over the pros and cons:

Mods:
-Pros:
--Easy to manage
--Makes sure there is little abuse in power
--Easy to discipline is power is abused.
--No chance of gang deletion.

-Cons:
--Makes people who aren't mods feel "unappreciated"
--Power can still be abused

-10 Points, your out:
-Pros:
--Gives more power to the average user
--Displays the public's point of view

-Cons:
--Allows for possible gang deletion of topics.
---Especially if Francis isn't online
--Much higher chance of power abuse due to more people
--Harder to manage (imagine a group of people deleting perfectly good posts)

you cna also vote against a topic being banned... so if a topic is good, you cna boost it ahed of time, protecting it of sorts... but having both in combination would be best. and maybe if we have enough mods... they could be worth 5 votes towards or against banning it? or maybe if it hits 10 it gets some kind of notice on it so mods(and francis) notice it faster?

I personally think this solution is best. If a topic gets -5 or lower, then a notice is sent to the mods of that forum to check out the topic to verify it's validity.

But, if spam occurs in any other forum, there'll probably be a mod at work anyway.
