It is refered to as "Prido Spacerider", and is one of the more common enemies in said game. It flies towards the opposite end of the screen, shooting occasionally. It's a robot deployed mainly for deep space combat, so it doesn't need to breath. I also have a boss version planned up, but I still need to figure out how to get the damn thing to work. |

I've said this a billion times but I'll say it again. Shading. Do it. ФֻФ |

I don't shade sprites much because there is no definite light source in alot of games due to one level being in a completely different location from the last. I'd rather outright defy how light works than look like I know nothing about how it works.

I would but the complete lack of shading is the most glaring issue. Having an inconsistent light source is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than having no shading at all. It looks ugly, but with a good amount of shading, it would actually look pretty good. Here, read this tutorial. ФֻФ |

Yeah, things without shading look really bland and boring. Just look at some of the GBA and DS games, most of the sprites in the game are shaded even if the light source is inconsistent. Also, maybe if you tried using shape tools less, your pictures wouldn't look so flat. Try getting some new shapes and curves into your characters, it makes it much more interesting than circles and polygons. I know robots and stuff like that have a lot of basic shapes in them, but robots look a hell of a lot cooler when they're more complex. |

These guys are just common enemies, so they're supposed to be abit bland to illustrate how simple they are to make both storywise and graphic wise.. |

A quote from some tutorial on shading "people don't really notice if your light source isn't 100% completely the same." And I'm sure as hell they don't notice when it comes to sprites. The shading makes the sprite, if it's big enough to have shading that is. Otherwise it's just boring and doesn't bring you in.
The shape is there Spiny, but SHADING plx0rs. |

Well too bad. The more shading is asked for/suggested, the less I actually want to do it. |

Only the parts that were about shading. The stuff about character design as a whole, I acknowledged. |
