I don't really mind, I enjoyed both forms of battling, plus I liked the levelling system in SPM a bit more, which made it seem like a classic game. |

obviously they wont include the turn based way because SPM was very successful and hey almost all the caming companies, when they make sumtin new and proves succesful yeah the new becomes the old and so on. So franchise overuse. Works...sometimes |

either they need to bring back RPGs or make this Paper Mario style better and more challenging. But RPGs > SPM. |

Also, I miss action commands. |
Pretty much right.
Sometimes I go back playing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for the challenge of beating Shadow Queen, or for trying to beat that Pit of 100 Trials. Shadow Queen is FOR FAR harder than both Count Bleck and Super Dimention (Who can be bested by a Dark Muth, includingly), and the Pit of 100 Trials is far harder there too.
The new battle system and the cards system made it all too easy; I liked the more to have these sometimes long, sometimes hard turn-based battles, instead of field battles where I knock most foes out in a single blow.
I also liked more to Tattle foes into my collection and make battles harder with that, instead of simply killing them instantly with a Catch Card or buying them somewhere, and then I start to deal double damage against them which is downright deadly specially as your attack gets high.
And Action Commands were really sweet too, and they could benefit a lot from the Wii Remote, although they ended up left up for powering up items, even while mostly it makes no difference at all.
And badges, too... I wish badges will return next game, for they pwn, and I also wish the old level-up increase mechanic of choosing the boost will return. Maybe having MP again would be good too.
But nevertheless, the new system is acceptable. It would do at some other game, but not at the Paper Mario series, that had a better system before.
And whoa, what a wall of rant I just posted. |
