And they aren't popular, for a reason.
I'm talking about the items that have both positive and negative effects. I saw an item that removed HP to gain MP, and its more expensive than items that purely give MP. Thus, nobody will buy.
My suggestion is that, if an item has both positive and negative effects, the cheaper one will be subtracted from the more expensive one. Example.
If I had an item that removed 5 mp for 20 hp, it would cost 5 coins to create. 25-20=5. Then the initial 5 to make it cost 10 total. In other words, you can sacrafice one to gain the other, without it being more expensive. |

The way someone could screw with this is that they could make an item for almost free (e.g. drain 4 mp recover 20 hp) and sell it for too much. One of those people would be me. I'd have WAY too much fun doing it. |

People would make their own and sell it to themselves. |

Make it so that if the total balance is 0, automatically count the MP effects of it without counting the HP, so that people can't abuse it to try and get really cheap/free items. |

Item heals 20 HP. This would make the item's price be 20 coins. The item's creator decides that he wants the item to be priced lower, so he adds 1 point of MP drain which lowers the price by 5 coins. The item's price becomes 15 coins. He decides that he wants the price even lower, so he adds another point of MP drain. The item's price becomes 10 coins. He decides to add another point of MP drain, but finds that the item's price stays at 10 coins. He adds another point of MP drain, and the item's price is still at 10 coins. He immediately creates a topic in the feedback forum and reports the supposed bug, only to be told that it's a feature meant to keep people from making free items. Everyone calls him an idiot (except for Lord Bowser who leaves the comment "MY MOMMA!") and forum life returns to normal until someone else decides to report the supposed "bug". |
