Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will receive a sizable update on Monday, according to a recent developer blog. The update will include a revised matchmaking system for Classic Competitive mode and number of bug fixes.

Valve will also release two new maps for the game with the update: Monastery and Vertigo, the latter seen in the above image recently tweeted by the Counter-Strike team. Valve has not specified which platforms the update pertains to, but we're guessing the Steam version is on that list.

Dogfight 1942 Russia Under Siege DLC is Now Available on Steam.

Pre-purchasers also get virtual "Heavy Metal Gear" including simulated amps and effect pedals, and an immediate unlock of the "Guitarcade" mini-games. The recommended leather pants are not included with either pre-purchases or day one purchases, but perhaps your leather office chair is close enough.

Post-PAX Feedback Patch
- Added Act and Chapter headings at the beginning of each campaign level.
- Added final block text to each level that isn't a boss fight.
- Added Checkpoints so you can leave the game and resume at the same block. These are stored in Steam Stats so they are secured on Steam servers and work like a cloud save.
- More fixes to animations not always triggering an event.
- Added a fix that would sometimes prevent the game from proceeding when a dude was killed.
- Fix Gorilla texture.

That is the name of an actual videogame that exists.If you’re wondering why it has enough titles for roughly 60 games, it’s because Half Minute Hero‘s actually made up of, well, roughly 60 games. They don’t, however, take half a life to finish, because each one is – yes – 30 seconds long. And really, what else can you even do in 30 seconds? Water a plant? Pet a cat? Wait precisely that long for your coffee to cool and then still burn yourself anyway? No thanks. I think I’ll just save the entire world instead. Or maybe eat a cookie. Hm, this is a dilemma.

Steam is demonstrating to power of war this weekend with deals on the Total War series and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Today, pick up Total War: Rome for 90 percent off ($1), or the Total War Master Collection, which includes every Total War game, for 75 percent off ($31). Individual Total War games are discounted 25 percent, with daily deals on certain titles.

This weekend Modern Warfare 3 is free-to-play and is selling for 50 percent off ($30). All of these deals end on Monday, October 1, at 10 a.m.

- Made Bane bot less likely to use abilities when doing a mild retreat.
- Fixed Razor's Plasma Field usage in-lane which was just completely broken. He should spam it less now.
- Tiny will now Avalanche at a slightly further distance when trying to do his combo.
- Windrunner will try to Shackleshot when retreating less now, and only when Windrun isn't active.
- Bots will no longer want to do Roshan when they aren't sufficiently tanky.
- When buying TP scrolls, bots will now try to purchase two of them since they tend to run around without any too often
- Fixed bug where bots wouldn't lower their farm desire when they reached enough money to make a big purchase, resulting in them farming forever.
- Fixed bug in Armlet toggling.
- Fixed bug that was causing bots to use Mekansm when no one needed healing.
- Fixed bug that was causing bots to incorrectly extrapolate movement positions (breaking abilities that need to lead their targets like Torrent or Light Strike Array).

Updates to Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Over the weekend, I attended Fantastic Arcade, an indie-focused gaming show in Austin, Texas. It was – as is often the case with these things – full of passion, creativity, and the guy who played that one kid in Dazed and Confused. You’ll be hearing tons more about it soon. First, though, we’ll look at what was perhaps the most incongruous moment of the event: a Valve panel. Steam Greenlight, of course, has had some pretty serious ups and downs since launching, and this panel gave the very people who are fighting to set up shop on the ubiquitous storefront a chance to voice their complaints directly. Here’s how it all went down.

AirMech Beta Update + Moon Festival Event

New Units, Matchmaking, and a special seasonal Event highlight the most recent AirMech update. Still in closed Beta testing, players can gain early access by purchasing the Beta Bundle which unlocks much of the content and is retained after full release of the game.


Three new Units have been added: Turtle (walker), Aegis (turret), and Grinder (melee tank). Each one introduces new strategic options on the battlefield allowing players to develop more specialized roles. All new Units are included with the Beta Bundle, and will be added to your account the next time you log in.


A couple new Ultimates have been added as well. Ultimates are non-PvP variations of existing Units or Pilots which amplify their abilities to extreme levels. They were originally created as a response to Solo mode players who enjoyed having an advantage, and didn't mind that they could not use them against human opponents, so we thought this was a great solution. Ultimate Erik gains XP ingame at 150% the normal rate, giving him usually a 2x advantage in levels. Ultimate Money Maker generates credits ingame at 2x the normal rate, but it otherwise the same.


The first track from Front Line Assembly has been added as menu music! As a refresher, we teamed up with Front Line Assembly to create an original soundtrack for AirMech, which will be available for purchase on November 13th. We will be integrating the music over time by breaking down the tracks and making proper loops of everything. The music was authored with this in mind and there's a really wide range of styles in the album. It is a great finishing touch to the game!


It's Moon Festival time! We wanted to do something fun for the holiday so we are rolling out our "cake" social Achievements. Through October 4th, the Mooncake Item is available in your inventory and while it gives no bonuses, it does give you the Cake buff and makes you eligible to "share cake" with other players doing the same. You can only get credit for sharing cakes with Matchmaking.


Matchmaking! This is a big step for AirMech, the first implementation of matchmaking. Right now we limit games to 2v2 PvP games so we can keep games cycling fast and gather data for our next steps. We're finding bugs, fixing them, and we really appreciate everyone's help by using the Matchmaking system. We also have our first pass of Ranking added to the game. Playing matchmade games will enter you in this system and your score will be modified based on an Elo system. Both of these areas will evolve quickly over the coming weeks and we love getting feedback on them!

A limited external beta for Valve's new Linux version of Steam will begin in October, the company reported. 1,000 users will test the client, along with "one Valve game," likely Left 4 Dead 2. The beta supports Ubuntu 12.04 and above. It's intended for experienced Linuxians: "For those new to Linux, we recommend waiting for a subsequent release where more features are implemented along with improvements to the user install experience."

The new Linux client will not include Big Picture Mode, which just went into beta on PC and is "coming soon" on Mac.

Planets Under Attack is now available on Steam and is available for 33% off*!

Puppy Punch Productions and developer Finn Morgan's new PC release, Colour Bind, is the latest addition to Steam Workshop. Colour Bind's mind bending use of coloured gravity is now in the hands of their users to explore and create their own puzzles.

"One of my goals with Colour Bind was to fully explore the space of puzzles the game could have," said Finn Morgan, creator of Colour Bind. "I included the level editor in the game partly because I'm looking forward to players showing me all the possibilities that I didn't think of."

Colour Bind is a platformer at heart that employs switches, lasers, geometrical objects, and a bouncy two-wheeled vehicle to manipulate gravity and reach your goal. The in-game level editor gives the user complete control to create, size, place, and colour these world objects to design their very own brain busting puzzle. Users can then upload their level to Steam Workshop and discover other user-created puzzles. Steam Workshop gives the Colour Bind community the ability to keep track of their favorite puzzle designers, create collections of their top levels, and even share those collections with friends.

With 50 singe player levels, 20 co-op levels, and 29 devilishly hard achievements already included in the game, Steam Workshop brings an ever-growing selection of new challenges.
