Man, I love ESRB ratings…
This is a side-scrolling action game in which players assume the role of a genie that explores a whimsical fantasy world and attempts to foil the plans of evil pirates. Players use magical weapons such as orbiting spiked balls, flames, and electrical clouds to defeat enemies (e.g., zombies, skeletons, slime). Most [...]

Isn't $710 a bit much for a crummy PSOne demo - seemingly worthless when it was handed out 12 years ago? The collector who won the bidding for NBA 2-Ball thinks he got a steal on the price. More »
I just can’t get over the fact that Tips & Tricks is still around. If I had to pick one magazine that would disappear as soon as the internet side of game coverage picked up, I would pick this one! That’s not because of quality or anything like that, but because it’s so [...]
There are tons of mysterious elements to the Legend of Zelda series. I think that’s why it has remained so popular over the years. People know the basic story and characters, but there’s a lot of wonder and whimsy involved, along with some burning questions. Some of those questions relate back to [...]

Google's playable doodle acknowledging Pac-Man's 30th birthday on Friday created quite a stir. The game is still on the Google front through the weekend, but that got me wondering: What about future game anniversaries? More »
Super Mario Galaxy had one of the most delightful, transportive soundtracks of any game in the current console generation, with themes both new and familiar set to a sweeping orchestral score. To show off the sequel's equally impressive accompaniment, a YouTube channel purportedly belonging to composer Mahito Yokota has uploaded every single track from Super Mario Galaxy 2 onto a single playlist.
You can listen to it here, though the tracks' names might include a few minor, minor spoilers. If you can suffer those, you're in for a full afternoon of happiness-inducing music.
I kid you not, this is the real deal. As you all know, Namco Bandai is a developer/publisher that has put out numerous games on Nintendo platforms. It seems that they’re going to take some of their video game knowledge and apply it to the world of grade school textbooks! Since this [...]
We understand the value of a good fan just as much as the next guy, whether said fan is reading our humble video game news site, or keeping us cool in the humid summer months. In Bizarre Creations' arcadey racer Blur, they're even more valuable, serving as the player's main form of character progression. In addition, fans will offer a few bonuses which will pop up in the middle of each race, including Fan Runs, Fan Demands and Fan Targets.
Bizarre Creations recently released video tutorials for all three of these bonuses, posted above and after the jump. We'd suggest checking them out if you're planning on picking up the game when it gets released next Tuesday.

Jonesing for more stories set in the grim Dragon Age universe, but don't have the patience to wait for the game's next expansion? Machinima.com recently produced a canonical miniseries set in the days following Origins' ending, and tells the story of Kristoff, another Gray Warden which players encounter in the Awakenings DLC. Considering the miniseries is titled "Warden's Fall," we seriously doubt things are going to turn out all roses and sunshine for him.
The first episode of the series went live earlier today, and can be found posted after the jump. If you're a fan of the game, it's well worth seven minutes of your time.

Coming from a Ubisoft developer resume…
We’ve known for awhile now that the game was coming, but this listing seems to point towards a Wii/PS3 release only. Of course, this could just indicate that this particular dev is working on these versions, with other devs handling 360/DS.

It’s time for one last look at the data for Super Mario Galaxy before the sequel comes out. Do you guys think that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is going to be able to best the numbers above? I’d like to think that with more Wii owners out there, even more people will pick [...]
A recent EA Sports press release has announced that the developer's upcoming hockey title, NHL 11, will be the first game to feature the teams and players of all three divisions in the Canadian Hockey League. The CHL is a "development" league, featuring players between the ages of 16 and 20, many of which go on to play for major teams in the NHL. We might go so far as to call it NHL Jr., if we didn't think every one of its players could beat us within an inch of our lives with little to no effort.
The two parties penned a four-year agreement to include CHL teams in the NHL game franchise, meaning we can expect to see minor league players in EA Sports' hockey franchise until NHL 14. We might even see a few CHL players move on to the big leagues between games. Won't that be nice?

ModNation Racers was pitched as a kind of kart-racer meets LittleBigPlanet, so half the fun is in the character customizations. These homages to Spider-Man, David Hasselhoff and The Bride from Kill Bill show how deep the creation engine runs. More »
The 2D artwork featured throughout looks halfway decent; it bugs me how they couldn't have just gone with a hand-drawn 2D style like that instead, but oh well. It's a satisfying game either way.
Stephen Totilo once wrote that game content can exist outside of a game disc, and there's more than a little fun to be had in expansions. They're antithetical to the limitations of physical distribution. In a news story, the reader keeps asking, "What will it cost?" but there can be no explanation ... even though there should be one. The unanswered mystery is what stays with us the longest and it's what we'll remember complaining about in the end.

The second downloadable episode of Alan Wake will be called "The Writer." The description of the content, which recently popped up in the game's "Downloadable Content" menu, reveals that the tortured author will find himself in "strange circumstances" (surely he must be used to those by now) and must face "one increasingly nightmarish situation after another." According to the listing, the episode will cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10). The first episode, "The Signal," will cost the same when it launches on July 27th, though it's a free download for those who purchased a new copy of Remedy's thriller.
You'll find an image and full description of the DLC after the break -- don't venture further if you're sensitive to spoilers.
