#clips If the video game console wars were fought not with billions of dollars spent on marketing and exclusives, but with Power Bombs, Biggoron, and Spark Shocks—and an Evil Wall with Bill Gates' face—it might look something like this. More »

Do you need to be convinced of Split/Second's capacity for stock car annihilation on PSP? Sony's offered you two ways to do so, the most thorough of which is a brief demo that's currently available on the PlayStation Store. What better way could there be to preview the miniaturized, bombastic racer than to actually get your hands dirty?

Well, we're not sure about a better way -- but there's certainly an easier way. See, downloading and playing that demo? That would require hundreds of button presses. Watching the launch trailer posted after the jump? That's like, two button presses. Maybe three, if you have to scroll down. Talk about efficient! Also, lazy.

#retail Rod Cousens, CEO of Codemasters, has an idea on how to solve the growing dispute between publishers and retailers over pre-owned sales: sell you part of a game now then have you download the rest later. More »

Hmm, that actually might work. As long as the game makes it clear what you not getting, and is priced accordingly.
Fallen Shade
Unfortunately companies will probably take advantage of a situation like this and charge the first part of the game for full retail price and then milk everyone to shit with DLC just so you can play the full game.

Well, that didn't take very long. A high-definition update of Ubisoft Montreal's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is set to arrive on the PlayStation Network starting today. Launching in Europe later this week as a single Blu-ray disc, the remastered Prince of Persia Trilogy will be brought to the American PlayStation store in three separate flavors: original, smoldering and nutty.

According to the PlayStation Blog, Warrior Within (that game they made because you didn't buy Sands of Time in the first place) and The Two Thrones will launch on PSN in December. All three adventures boast 720p resolution, Trophies, 3D support and $14.99 price tags. That's $45 for the original trilogy -- and you can probably find The Forgotten Sands in a bargain bin if you're looking for even more of the classic Prince's elegant environmental puzzles.

Be sure to download Episode 3 of “The Tester 2” available only on the PlayStation Network in the PlayStation Store. Starting Wednesday watch it with your friends in “The Tester 2” theater in PlayStation Home to receive this week’s ‘Game Over’ T-shirt.

A portion of a Eurogamer review… There’s no one thing Mini-Land Mayhem does that’s particularly new or innovative, but it borrows the best elements of games like Lemmings, The Lost Vikings, and traditional Donkey Kong platformers to form an extremely refined puzzling adventure.

A portion of a GamePro review… With a concept that recalls The Incredible Machine, LittleBigPlanet, and LEGO blocks, Create seemingly offers endless possibilities for the tinkerer in all of us. But while the puzzles are inventive and fun, they don’t fully showcase the game’s potential.

Yes, we have yet another game composer that is completely ignored by Wikipedia. For whatever reason, there is no entry for composer Naoki Kodaka. This is an absolute travesty when you realize just how many awesome game tunes Mr. Kodaka did. To name just a few, Kodaka provided music for Blaster Master, [...]

With the news of APB rising from the grave as APB: Reloaded, Joystiq spoke with GamersFirst's CTO and COO Bjorn Book-Larsson. The company is a free-to-play publisher which maintains a steady following and, as you can imagine, we were left with plenty of questions following the announcement -- the biggest being: why?

APB was largely seen as a failure, both commercially and critically. It was called "ambitious" by some, which may have been its biggest problem. But for Book-Larsson, it's all about opportunity. "We think of it as an opportunity," he told Joystiq. "It's worth our effort to take it and combine it with all of the user data we have and let the game take its time to reach its full potential."

Super Meat Boy will land with a squelch on PC on November 30. Pre-orders will open on November 23 for $10, after which the game will launch for $15. Early buyers should have enough money left over to pick up a pound of prime ground chuck at the market for burgers.

If you buy Super Meat Boy through Valve's Steam service, you'll receive Half-Life's hideous (but sort of adorable) headcrab as a playable character. All non-Steam purchases on PC and Mac will receive a Goo from World of Goo. Either character will replace Gish as the first unlockable (via bandage collection) bonus character. As for which version to purchase, Team Meat is apparently very fond of Valve's digital distribution service, saying, "We LOVE Steam...like...a lot. MS is the hot chick you hook up with, Steam is the girl you spend your life with." We wonder where WiiWare must sit on that spectrum after those development challenges?
