Given how much I don't care for Alien 3, I don't mind that Gearbox Software and Sega are essentially telling David Fincher to 'eff off in today's long-awaited updated on Aliens: Colonial Marines, calling the project "a true sequel to James Cameron’s classic Aliens."
Sega's killed off Alien projects in the past, so it's no surprise many had assumed the worst when so long passed without an update on the shooter. With a is-it-or-isn't-it Alien film coming next year, a prequel of sorts from the masterful Ridley Scott, the game is coming back to life.
Aliens: Colonial Marines sounds like what we'd been hearing in the past, but yeah, reading about drop-in, drop-out multiplayer across a squad of four has me...uh, excited again. You'll also get to customize your marine with "get perks, new weapons and new looks for your squad."
Series fans can look forward to exploring Hadley’s Hope, the Sulaco and LV-426.
What's less fun is learning we'll be waiting a while to dig in; Aliens: Colonial Marines isn't scheduled for release until next spring. Fiiiiiine.
