Buried deep within an announcement of the release of the 3DS Netflix app, Nintendo revealed that 3D movies will soon be available for the handheld. "Users will soon have access to an additional library of select movies that can be viewed in 3D without the need for special glasses," the announcement says. It's not entirely clear from the wording of the release whether this will be part of the Netflix service or a separate app -- but the whole press release was about Netflix.

During GDC, Nintendo announced its intent to release 3D movie trailers for 3DS, which it did last month for Green Lantern, with a video downloadable from the eShop. In addition, both Japan and Europe have "Nintendo Video" services that display 3D television content -- but not movies.
