Did it last year, but only made it to 13k because I started late and then pussied out when I couldn't catch up. Planning on trying again this year, but I'm not sure what the plot's going to be yet. Right now it's about losers who go around mugging people for their souls. jolly fun times eh wot wot
If anyone else decides to do it, then be my writing buddy when they put that feature back up wheeeeee
Our experiences over the past twelve years show that 50,000 is a difficult but doable goal, even for people with full-time jobs and children. The length makes it a short novel. We don’t use the word “novella” because it doesn’t seem to impress people the way “novel” does.
We define a novel as “a lengthy work of fiction.” Beyond that, we let you decide whether what you’re writing falls under the heading of “novel.” In short: If you believe you’re writing a novel, we believe you’re writing a novel too.
Basically, you just write 50,000 words that make a story and it counts. Some people even make collections of short stories, so yeah.
hey guys i'm going to be a ~writefaggot!~ and bump this because i need some cool kids like you to help me pick which story i'm going to write
You can see them here, but I'm assuming most (if not all) of you don't have NaNo accounts so you can reply here instead of there with your judgments of shittiness and/or greatness. Or not. You know, whatevs.

Why 50,000 words? And how do you define ‘novel’?
