Suggestion: Play more than three games before declaring one of the games you just happened to play GOTY. You haven't played Dark Souls, Saints Row the Third, Skyman, or Human Revolution, and they are all also considered excellent games. You automatically write them off as worse than Skyward Sword just because you haven't played them. It is possible that Skyward Sword is, in fact, better than those,  but how can you tell without playing those other games?

Skyward Sword is GOTY in Dim's book. If you don't like it, write your own. I'm not far into yet, but so far it's just typical Zelda. Not bad, but not amazing. I hear it changes things up a lot at some point, so we'll see. Battlefield 3 will probably get my GOTY nod, because it make me feel like a super soldier.

He mentioned those three because they will be GOTY nominees by the news sites. For example http://www.spike.com/events/video-game-awa... (which reminded me of Portal 2, which I now say is GOTY)

I've played more than those 3 I only mentioned them becuase they were the most commonly mentioned ones up for GOTY.
And Skyrim may be popular and is damn good but is defiantly not GOTY. Also I specifically stated in my book, as in : "in my opinion". And the point of my question was more or less what is your game of the year not "complain as much as you can on the fact that i said I only played 3 other major titles".

Dark Souls is GOTY, Portal 2 and Skyward Sword are runners up.
