Ubisoft releases company-specific NPD data

Calendar year 2011 was filled with significant milestones for Ubisoft. Today’s NPD data reveals that Ubisoft continues to maintain its leadership as the No. 3 third-party video game publisher in the United States.

The NPD data released today highlights that for the month of December 2011 Ubisoft had the following milestones for the month:

-For December, Ubisoft is the only publisher with two games in NPD’s top ten list of best-selling games: Just Dance 3 (No. 2) and Assassin’s Creed Revelations (No. 7).

-Just Dance 3 earns a new achievement as the No. 1 Kinect for Xbox 360 game and the No. 1 PlayStation Move required game for the month of December. Additionally, Just Dance 3 on the Nintendo Wii system is the No. 1 Wii game for three months in a row since it was released in October 2011.

-The Just Dance franchise has produced the No. 1 Wii game for the past 14 of 15 months of NPD reports (Just Dance 3 three times, Just Dance 2 ten times, Just Dance Summer Party once).

-Ubisoft is the No. 2 third-party video game publisher for the month of December 2011.

For calendar year 2011, Ubisoft is proud to be:

-The No. 3 third-party video game publisher for three years in a row.

-A leader on multiple hardware platforms: Ubisoft is the No. 1 third-party video game publisher on Kinect for Xbox 360 required games with Just Dance 3 and the No. 1 on Nintendo Wii with Just Dance 3, in addition to Ubisoft being the No. 1 third-party publisher on Nintendo 3DS.

-Included in the list of top 10 retail sellers in the U.S. for all of 2011 with Just Dance 3 (No. 2), Just Dance 2 (No. 9), and Assassin’s Creed Revelations (No. 10).

Comment from The NPD Group's Anita Frazier:

-“The Dance genre was the sixth largest of 2011, growing 66% versus 2010. The Just Dance property from Ubisoft nabbed two spots in the top 10 title list for annual 2011, among new physical sales of content at retail in the U.S.”
