IGN survey shows Wii U purchase intent lagging behind 360/PS3 successors, dislike of motion controls
Results come from 62,000 IGN readers
- 61% of gamers play multiple video game consoles
- 63% are considering a purchase of the PlayStation 4
- 61% are considering a purchase of the Xbox 720
- 40% are considering a purchase of the Wii U
- 34% are considering a purchase of the rumored Steam console
- 18% would consider the purchase of an Apple console
- 10% are interested in a unified cloud-based system
- 3% would pay up to $400 for a Nintendo console
- 75% of respondents felt neutral or negatively about motion control
- nearly half of respondents say they are not enthusiastic/excited about the future of motion sensor gaming
- Nearly half of gamers surveyed who own a motion controller don’t use it regularly
- 62% of respondents own a Nintendo Wii, but only 25% play it
- 26% of gamers surveyed want virtual reality to become a reality with next generation of consoles
- Nearly a quarter of respondents want a “single platform” open system
