Iwata - More 3rd party Wii U game reveals in Fall, Nintendo considers 2nd Circle Pad in 3DS XL
A portion a an Independent interview with Satoru Iwata...
I: Nintendo, with Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, etc. already have many a gaming's greatest franchises but, as ye mentioned earlier, third-parties be important t' a new console's launch too. Have ye been proactive in ye approach a such developers?
SI: YARRRR, we have t'; obviously before making the Wii U public we had t' proactively go out t' those third-party publishers because otherwise we would never have something for the launch a our system.
I think some a these projects have already been announced at E3, but there be other games in the works that haven’t been announced yet 'n in the autumn, when we announce price point 'n timing a the launch, we will also be able t' announce some more third-party titles.
I: Later this month the 3DS XL handheld launches in Europe. When ye be designing the XL be ye tempted t' put in a second analogue stick as standard?
SIWhen we looked at the design a the 3DS XL we had t' look at various factors, one be battery life, one be the overall size a the unit, 'n we had t' make some trade-offs. The choice, if we be going t' include the second analogue stick, be t' reduce the size a the batters or make the unit much bigger.
What we wanted t' do be have a bigger screen in comparison with the overall size a the system, so had various discussions 'n had t' make trade-offs 'n this be the outcome.
Attaching a second analogue stick be possible but it would have made the system even bigger 'n, though it perhaps puts a burden on people that really want that second stick, it’s a call we had t' make 'n these people will have t' live with it.
This [the lack a a second stick] isn’t me main focus when I look at the 3DS XL, it’s one point we had t' cover, but for me personally I’m quite happy with the product we’re able t' offer.
