i'm not ok with this
first of all you can't just make digibutter one huge chatroom basically (yes i know you can reply to certain posts but hold on), it would be a huge downgrade from being able to have full topics where you can write as much as you want without breaking the board and have images and and more options than just reply. second of all this removes all the other features we have on the board right now
please tell me you are going to add a LOT more to this before you make it official
I actually agree with Nas for the most part. Why can't we focus on changing Nerr 2.0 instead of making a totally new system? I'm also not liking it how it's like a converted chatroom.
okay guys I hope you realize this is the very very very early version of 3.0
remember what digibutter 1.5 looked like? and how drastically different it was from 2.0? this is the equivalent to that.
Do you also remember how long it took for Digibeta to become what it is now? We're talking years for a brand new system. Besides, 1.5 wasn't drastically different. It added some color and a lot of features, but the posting stayed nearly the same from the beginning of 1.5 to the way it is now.
except it got more organized and hierarchical, which is pretty much all the new system needs aside from more functions. this only came out a day ago man
why is making it more chatlike an improvement
i mean it's something new and interesting
but how does the new layout and posting scheme improve over nerr 2.0 in any way
especially considering the time spent on nerr 3.0 could be spent improving the layout of an already established system
Francis just wants to cut away the line between chat and forum so we can have both without compromise. I think he's going in a good direction so far, we just need to figure out what we really want in it.
Eh, I guess I can get behind it. That makes sense. I can't say I'm fond of the layout, but I guess when things like topics are made more distinct and clearer, it'll improve. Okay, give it a shot, Francis.
Yes, it is making the digibutter a series of tubes chats. The goal of the current view is to sit on the top of the page and not miss anything... no scrolling or refresh required. I know it looks confusing at first, but I will be refining it in a couple different ways... making topics and replies visibly different like Vidd brought up. and allowing different views of posts besides the current "show me whatever the most recent activity is no matter what topic".
Crump you don't have to be an ass and tell me to basically shut up because I made a god damn suggestion. If anyone else said that you would've been fine with it. I've been an active member of this site since 2007 I'm allowed to make suggestions just as much as anyone else is.
crump i'm really late but that was the stupidest thing i've ever heard from you
not because you're criticizing nas but because you basically combined the two worst arguments in the world
please never have a negative opinion towards any commercial product ever again
I think what crump was trying to say, and even though he said it in a fashion only seen on deviantart, is that we shouldn't please the lowest common denominator (nas) just to make something easy to use instead of pushing forward new technologies and concepts. If we listened to every old person we would still be listening to radios made from tubes.
