On the left of that poster is Bingbing Li, who's taking on the role of Ada Wong. When it came time to promote Resident Evil: Retribution in Japan, Li opted out of the premiere. It seems that Li might have some issues with the dispute between Japan and China over the Senkaku Islands. Here's what here agent had to say.

"We are in line with our government—the Diaoyu Islands belong to China. Bingbing will be attending movie premieres held in other places across the world and she skipped the Tokyo leg only."

With Li knowing of the premiere two months in advance, it's almost certain that she stayed away because of this dispute.
