I bought a Wii U, but I don't know what to do with it

- Like?

Showed up at Best Buy 45 minutes before they opened and I was number 4 "in line". They just gave me a number and said come back when the stores opens. I got the Deluxe version, but was unable to get New Super Mario Bros U as they only had a few copies for sale. (How hard is it to burn a disc, Nintendo?)

The people I talked to in line didn't even know what it was, they were just getting it for their spoiled kids. This was nothing compared to the Wii launch 6 years ago.

Now I'm wondering why I bought it. Reviews of the actual console experience are not that great (navigating menus is slow, missing features still to come). I'm not interested in any upcoming games and I have no friends to play local multiplayer games, which is what Wii U will mostly consist of. I think I'm getting too old for this.

I should probably sell it on ebay or craigslist and make $100 bucks if the demand is there, else I might just return it.

it would probably be better to buy one when its cheaper and has had updates and better games
this is why you dont buy consoles on launch anymore, because they dont make good games on launch anymore. its like the miss the point of releasing a console, a console is no good if you dont have good games (party game 1023 doesnt count as a good game).
and why release something that doesnt work as good as it should? i mean yeah obviously there has to be updates every once in a while but if it doesnt work good on initial release then theyve done a terrible job.

and the wii u isnt a new thing. yeah it just came out, but its just a wii with a touchpad in its controller. nothing to get really excited about

i imagine a regular wii would be a great substitute for a wii u, probably does all the same stuff. youd only be missing out on a touchscreen, and touchscreens are terrible anyway so you really arent missing out on anything.

and pikmin 3
the Wii doesn't support 1080p resolution (or even 720p), which is a WORLD of difference. plus the Wii U can render far more polygons per second and perform far many more calculations at a faster rate. plus real unity support this time, meaning a world of indie games to explore. also no friend codes. the wii u is a completely different experience than the wii

also the discs can hold far more data than wii discs, so bigger games

being a game developer myself who works primarily in unity engine, i'm very excoted about potentially making something for it, possibly something that can utilize every control scheme (gamepad, wiimote, etc.)

One of the biggest games of the holiday season, Call of Duty Black Ops II, currently has *zero* reviews of the Wii U version. I was interested in the online and split-screen modes. Sad that the media doesn't seem to care.

They arent using all that for good stuff right now though
Like theres nothing worth spending 200+ dollars for right now for it. having potential doesnt mean anything without using it

Wonderful 101 doesn't have a concrete release date why even bother

You can get NSMBU for free if you go to Old Navy's Black Friday sale and buy 40$ worth of merchandise.

people are reporting it takes like 10-20 seconds to enter or leave an app and navigate menus, and like 20 minutes to do any updates. and I thought PS3 was bad, I don't have patience for that

but apparently the web browser is really fast, so there's that

eh that's usually the case for proprietary software on any new tech; nothing firmware updates can't fix

The only reason I would want a Wii U is for the games.  But I can certaintly wait.  Does it bother you that you have to buy a new console JUST to buy a new game?  Like I have a DS Lite...I want to buy NEW games that are for the DS Lite.

Francis, you should write a bunch of bad reviews for the Wii U so no one will want to buy it, and force Nintendo to make quality stuff.

Dimentio's girl that is how you kill capitalism and nintendo itself. People are still making dreamcast games, but sega is long dead.

lemme get this straight: dimentio's girl wants hardware evolution to come to an end so all new games will be produced on the same dinosaur machines forever?
Reply by Lord Crump Nov 19 2012 03:01 GMT
She means its just annoying to have to buy new hardware. I mean, wouldn't it be pretty great if we could magically have major advancements in software without having to upgrade our hardware? Obviously she doesn't LITERALLY want things to not advance.

Or you could just play games on your computer

That's enough to play a roguelike, unless you're a scrub.
