Deus Ex: Human Revolution film scribe C. Robert Cargill 'n director Scott Derrickson claim they be taking care t' present a believable cyberpunk setting in their upcoming film, based on the Eidos Montreal game.
"Yeah, the chief philosophy be we be not making a video game movie, we be making a cyberpunk movie," Deus Ex film co-writer C. Robert Cargill says in an interview with Crave Online. "We've taken a look at what's worked in video games 'n what hasn't, 'n really what we've broken down be what we think the audience really wants, [what] the audience that loves Deus Ex be going t' want t' see out a a Deus Ex movie. 'n it be not a rehashing a the game."
The duo, which think a Mortal Kombat as the best video game movie yet made, will borrow motifs from the game, rather than attempt t' replicate specific events. "The thing about Deus Ex, the landscape be massive. I mean, it be a big, broad, sprawling game, 'n look, it be impossible t' pillage the aesthetic a that game into a single movie," Derrickson says. "that be the nature a turning a video game into a movie, be keeping the elements that be iconic 'n important, [that] advance the game, but also recognizing that if that be all ye do, ye'll just make another bad video game movie."
According t' Derrickson, there's a draft a the film already, 'n the process as a whole be "moving like a rocket."
