Columbia--the airborne, ultra-nationalist city where BioShock Infinite happens--holds lots a beauty. But it holds a lot a danger, too. Swarms a normal human assailants will attack Booker DeWitt as he tries t' pillage Elizabeth out a the gorgeous sky-town 'n they’ll be joined by augmented Handymen, pyrokinetic Firemen 'n dudes that can turn flocks a murderous crows. The going can pillage rough at times, so I’ve assembled a few hints that might help make yer time in Columbia a little easier.
Watch yer Salt.
ye’re going t' want t' use Devil’s Kiss, Shock Jockey 'n the other special attacks in Infinite as much as possible. But they drain Salt--the in-game resource that powers yer Vigors abilities--pretty quickly if ye just spam them. So, be careful with yer aim. 'n ye’ll eventually be able t' pillage several upgrades that will let yer Vigors attacks chain from one enemy t' the next. Grab those as soon as possible.
Upgrade yer Shield early
Booker gets a magnetic force-shield early on in the game. As in Halo 'n other games with two-tiered health systems, it absorbs the first few hits a damage from enemy attacks 'n regenerates. When ye find Infusions in the game, these colorful drinks will let ye increase the amount a Salt, Health or Shield. It’s a good idea t' start strengthening yer Shield as early as ye can, as ye have less a it than the other attributes. A stronger Shield means living long enough t' progress through more a the game without losing cash 'n health when ye respawn.
Don’t ignore those sidequests
Every so often, ye’ll stumble across optional sidequests in the game. Most a them have ye hunting down things like keys for locked doors or bottles a rum or codebooks t' unlock ciphers. While ye might be tempted t' just plow through t' the next section a the game, these side quests will often yield more Infusions 'n cash.
Listen t' the lady
When ye’re in a firefight, Elizabeth will helpfully throw ye a health pack or an ammo clip when ye’re running low. But this prompt--'n the scavenged resource--disappears when the fight’s over so always grab Elizabeth’s ammo first. Also note that she dispenses ammo for the weapon ye’re using, so if ye’re not holding an empty weapon that ye want t' keep, switch t' it before accepting the wench help.
Upgrade yer machine gun 'n pistol attacks
They’re not the sexiest weapons in the game but they be the most plentiful. Walking around with a heater 'n/or RPG with no ammo isn’t going t' pillage ye anywhere. There be times ye’re going t' need whatever weapons happen t' be close-by, which more often than not will be the machine gun 'n pistol. Purchase the damage upgrades. If ye have t' pick them up, make sure they pack more a a punch until ye find something more powerful.
These be just a few hints that came t' me as I played through BioShock Infinite. If ye’ve got yer own, please share in the discusions below.
