Eguchi discusses how Animal Crossing's communication aspects have evolved with new technology
Coming from an IGN interview...
“[At the beginning], because of the size of save files, the things that we could do were limited. It was possible to share the same field [of play], but it wasn’t possible to share it at the same time, simultaneously. But communications and internet technology and so on has been developing steadily, and that made it possible to visit each other’s villages and towns. This time, with Streetpass and the Internet it’s even possible for people whom you don’t know to visit you. So each player can realise their personal ideas, reflect their personality and taste, and other people can see that. So in that sense, the things that we wanted to realise in the beginning became gradually possible because of technological development.” - Katsuya Eguchi
