Got SMB2 on Wii U (50% off). I forgot how floaty it feels. and that 5 cherries spawn a starman. and that killing enemies spawns a heart, but health is shown as gems. Mario has some crazy dreams
I learned today that SMB2 was originally a prototype for a vertical co-op platformer where you had to toss the other player around. Miyamoto told them to scrap the co-op and add horizontal levels but it wasn't ready soon enough to be released as SMB2 in Japan. Then Fuji asked Nintendo to make a game with these characters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_W2vldGyOQ so they used them in the finished prototype. When Nintendo America didn't like the Japanese SMB2, they released a reskinned Yume Kojo (Dream Factory) instead.
Yume Kojo could be a sub-title since it was the name of the Fuji event, but "Dream Factory" seems like a more fitting name (the game is a dream after all, with Wart standing next to some machinery) than "Heart-Pounding Panic"... I mean it's not that exciting.
