- they also wanted the location to be a fashionable country with a sophisticated culinary taste and linguistics
- this is how the team decided on France
- in 2011, Masuda traveled to France along with some crew members
- X/Y's Lumiose City was inspired by the city of Paris
- the team was also inspired by Lyon and Reims
- on the far-west part of the map, there’s an area with various standing stones
- this idea came from visiting the Neolithic menhir collections located in Carnac
