Though Far Cry Classic will reach European territories as part of the Far Cry: The Wild Expedition compilation, it will also see a standalone release on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network come February 12. Whether the game will appear in America remains unknown.
Ubisoft describes Far Cry Classic as an "HD revamp" of the original Crytek-developed shooter. "Far Cry Classic is the premiere and ultimate console version of the very first Far Cry game," reads the publisher's official description. "Take the role of charter boat captain, Jack Carver, who finds himself hunted by an unrelenting team of highly trained mercenaries in this nature-gone-wrong FPS adventure. This HD revamp features stunningly realistic foliage, real-time day and night cycles, drivable underwater and flying vehicles which you can commandeer, and more..."
When it debuts on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, Far Cry Classic will cost European gamers £8. There is no word on a price point for the still-hypothetical US release of Far Cry Classic, nor any official word confirming that the game will appear outside of Europe. Ubisoft did recently announce a Far Cry Compilation for American fans, but Far Cry Classic is omitted from that collection. We've attempted to contact Ubisoft for more information, but have yet to hear back.
