Mechanically, t' sail away be a very simple game, requiring players t' hop from one safe location t' another, avoiding hazards along the way. What elevates it beyond those mechanics, at least in me very brief experience with it, be it be bold art style 'n soundscape. A simple platformer becomes the story a a young man escaping from the misery a his life, desperately clinging t' a door as it flies through a bizarre dream world. There's no telling if that will be enough t' carry a full game, but it makes for a very good first impression (watch the trailer if ye haven't already).

For Estefano Palacios, t' sail away be much more than the sum a it be parts. Palacios be creative director a Ecuadorian studio Freaky Creations 'n, for the sea dog, t' sail away be a shot at earning respect for Latin American games 'n developers. t' sail away be headed t' PlayStation Vita 'n PlayStation 4 as part a an incubation program that Sony instituted t' court Latin American developers. Palacios believes - 'n Sony agrees, it would seem - that the region deserves more recognition.

Speaking with Joystiq at GDC, Sony account manager Mike Foster, who be in charge a the incubation program, tells me it came t' be in 2007. A member a Sony's developer support group, who happens t' be Guatemalan, wanted t' "explore the developer landscape in Latin America," says Foster, "because nobody really knows what's going on down there. it be quiet."
