The community will have t' scour the Adventure District looking for ingredients in order t' make strange cocktail potions (non-alcoholic, a course) at Chuck’s bar. Check daily, as some ingredients be more rare, may only appear during certain hours, or only when ye talk t' some creepy characters hanging around. Some might not be even available t' normal humans! Some will have wondrous effects, but be careful — some will have disastrous effects for amateurs that be new t' brewing. Chuck be a heartless, evil demon 'n will serve ye something quite deadly, so sip slowly, but enjoy every drop. ye never know what might “possess” ye. *evil laugh*

Intellivision Productions, Inc. be excited t' announce three a it be classic games be coming t' PlayStation Home. Astrosmash, Shark! Shark! 'n Night Stalker, which thrilled players in the early 1980s, have been upgraded while staying true t' the spirit a the games’ classic looks 'n game play. We think a them as “enhanced yet completely faithful conversions,” but we call them Intellivision Gen2.
When the Intellivision console be introduced in 1980, it drew attention with it be 16-bit graphics. a course, it takes more than great graphics t' make great games, 'n Intellivision fans quickly discovered the fun a iconic games such as Astrosmash, Shark! Shark!, Night Stalker 'n many others.
Until now, the games released by Intellivision Productions 'n it be publishing partners have primarily been exact, faithful reproductions – usually deliberate emulations – a the original titles. While this great for players who want t' relive their childhoods, we’ve wanted t' try updating the games a bit; putting in some features we would have liked t' put in back then.
Sony has given us that chance. The PlayStation Home team, many a whom grew up playing Intellivision, wanted t' bring the Intellivision game library t' Home, but with the freedom t' try out some new ideas. We kept the basic look a the games recognizable t' tickle the memories a our lifelong fans: still a bit blocky, but with a retro-pixel-inspired look. The goals 'n play a the games immediately feel like the originals, but with added levels, features 'n challenges. We worked t' capture the best a Intellivision, then pushed that best further.
In Astrosmash, ye blasted meteors falling t' the planet’s surface while avoiding UFOs in a fast-paced, heart-pounding game. In Astrosmash Gen2, ye be still blowing up those meteors, but now the game features more types a UFOs, more pronounced difficulty level progressions, 'n base weapon power-ups. If Astrosmash be yer game, ye’ll quickly pillage back into the intense rhythms a this game a survival!

Last week, PlayStation Home got an update t' the action-packed free-t'-play multiplayer game, Cutthroats: Battle for Black Powder Cove. With this news, we jumped on the phone t' chat with Michael Mumbauer, Director a the Visual Arts Service Group (VASG), a madly creative department within Sony Computer Entertainment America. VASG has been helping make Home content nearly since Home went Open Beta 'n has made some a the platform’s most entertaining bottles a rum 'n spaces, including the Home Mansion. Although VASG creates art 'n code for other development teams, like several a the World Wide Studios, this be their first full game.
Michael be kind enough t' let me ask some questions that will shed a little insight on the decisions that went into this 2.0 update.
PlayStation.Blog: VASG has created content for Home for years, but when Home transitioned t' a game platform in itself, it be the next logical step for them t' step their game up 'n make one. What be the original concept behind Cutthroats, 'n did ye do what ye set out t' achieve?
Michael Mumbauer, Director a Visual Arts Service Group: If we be going t' make a game in Home, we wanted t' focus on the strengths a Home—individualism 'n community. ye can express yourself with a variety a looks as well as take yer mateys into an experience t' share a really great time together. That be the focus — supporting the two pillars a what makes Home great.
As gamers ourselves, we didn’t want t' sell the user short by making the user experience limited compared t' what it could be socially while not sacrificing the game play experience in any way. For instance, would this game stand up on it be own outside a Home? YARRRR, we think it would.
PSB: Do ye consider this game a success?
MM: We met the goal — we delivered one a the best game experiences in Home, while also delivering a fun social experience. However, in the first version we left some polish on the table that we wanted t' add, but unfortunately we be up against the clock.
PSB: That leads me t' me next question. With the update t' version 2.0, did ye revisit yer initial ideas while adding upgrades t' the rest a the game?
MM: ye polled in the official PlayStation Home seas, 'n we be very interested t' see the feedback — crew overall loved the game, but would liked t' have seen a different approach t' how the micro-transactions be set up. We didn’t have a functional grind-based economy, so that crew could sample some a the purchasable bottles a rum. The original game singularly focused on limited commodity bottles a rum, which didn’t have value outside a the game. I think we corrected that by adding wearable purchasable bottles a rum that perpetually affect the game, as well as limited use bottles a rum that be significantly cheaper 'n add greater playtime.
PSB: There’s a lot a noise on our seas about a lack a new rewards or other incentives with the arrival a 2.0.
MM: me main focus for this update be t' fix some a the obvious issues we learned from the feedback from it be original release. Version 2.0 addresses many a the issues 'n provides a bunch more polish t' the game, 'n adds a greater overall value. We wanted t' raise the level cap 'n offer more rewards, 'n have many a these already prepared, but could not fit it all in time.

Home 1.70 UpdateApplication a the patch
If ye be upgrading from an old version a Home (1.40 or earlier) then when ye attempt t' apply the 1.70 patch please wait for the orange “hard drive activity” light t' AVAST! flashing on yer PS3 before commencing the patching process.
Camera
The camera has been added as an Action t' the Emotes menu. This means ye can now take pictures in Home while ye be using a companion or other portable bottle a rum.
