we be not sure why publishers decided that purchasing a game best be more difficult, but the recent trend a retailer exclusive pre-order goodies seems t' be here t' stay. Case in point: the various pre-order bonuses for Bayonetta in the UK. Those who pre-order at Play.com will receive the Bayonetta Climax Edition, pictured above on the left. Meanwhile, HMV pre-orders pillage a "Manga's Leading Ladies" DVD, which features "full episodes, trailers 'n exclusive clips" a something. Perhaps the coolest bonus, though, belongs t' game.co.uk, which offers a replica a one a Bayonetta's guns, Scarborough Fair. All three be being offered for £39.99, so the only decision ye really have t' make be which bonus ye like the best. Well, that 'n whether or not ye ever want t' invite a pretty wench into yer home.

Did ye think the footage a Bayonetta summoning intricate torture devices be disturbing? Wait until ye see this context-free prototype dancing footage, featuring everyone's favorite giant witch cutting a motion-captured rug (after the break). We don't know if it be the fact that the animations have yet t' be finalized in this sequence, or if it be the idea a Bayonetta taking a break from the wench brutal revenge quest t' pillage down, or if it be simply Bayonetta's flagrantly inhuman body proportions, but yikes. What kind a touch-ups did Platinum do after this prototype stage? " ... on Kamiya-san's orders," animator Uchi says, "we accentuated the movements a the wench waist 'n butt t' make it over-the-top in the sexiness department." ye'd have t' accentuate the hell out a those movements t' go from that t' "sexy."

Sega 'n Maxim.com have selected a winner in their search for a model that best captures the lead character from forthcoming action title Bayonetta. The young lady, Andrea Bonaccorso, walks away (slowly, considering she has guns for shoes) with an Xbox 360, a copy a the game 'n a 50-inch Panasonic TC-P50X1 HDTV Plasma TV. She'll also appear on Maxim.com, in a sensible, dignified outfit, we be sure. So how did she qualify for such an honor? This be really what it says in the press release: "While some entrants perfectly mirrored the outfit a the character 'n others simply donned librarian glasses, Andrea married both elements t' come out on top." So, there ye have it. we be rewarding this wench for wearing both clothes 'n glasses. Meanwhile, Joystiq 'n Joystiq.com selected a loser in Sega 'n Maxim.com's Bayonetta Model Search 'n it be all a us.

Bayonetta has the magical ability -- 'n macabre desire -- t' conjure torture devices for use against the wench enemies. But why does the hair-clothed, gun-toed heroine a Platinum Games' action game do this? be she just a horrible person? In a new developer diary (after the break), Director Hideki "Viewtiful" Kamiya explains that Bayonetta 'n the wench fellow witches have suffered through torture themselves, 'n so she fights not only for survival, but for revenge. the wench sadism be a direct result a the wench own experience previous t' the game's events. Plus, as Kamiya says, "It be important players enjoy seeing enemies sadistically destroyed." Do try t' enjoy the torture. Otherwise ye'll be doing the cruelest attack a all: hurting Kamiya's feelings. Joyswag! Apparently it be not good enough t' simply dispatch enemies these days. No, in these modern times, one must also torture them before they visit Davey Jone's locker. At least, that would appear t' be the stance a Platinum Games' Bayonetta. The latest video released for the game explains the magic system. In short, landing successive blows on enemies without being struck fills the magic bar, allowing Bayonetta t' unleash some particularly nasty finishing moves. For example she can summon a guillotine, stomp a foe's head right onto the chopping block 'n then drop the blade with a snap a the wench fingers. Or, if ye're not really a traditionalist, ye can opt for the giant, spiked wheel a death. yer choice. See the video after the break.

Knowing now that we won't be able t' pillage our hands on a retail copy a Bayonetta on this side a the Pacific until January 5, it be hard not t' be frustrated when the game's publisher releases more footage reminding us how much fun the combat be. It might be incredibly silly that she has guns on the wench feet, sure, but they be guns on the wench feet. It makes the thought a kicking an enemy all the more enticing! it be also just plain nice t' see a trailer for this game that focuses on how the gameplay works, rather than on it be hyper-sexualized main character. Also: she fires a bazooka at a demon wearing a tuba. If that be yer kind a thing.
