So, I've been thinking a lot about it and I want to bring the stream back. In Fracnis's absence the stream was one of the things that kept people coming back to this place and kept us together.
However, I want to make some changes to it as well. Digibutter's focus as a site has been very blurry since day one. Is it about video games? Technology? Spamming image macros? What Digibutter brought together was a group of talentless misfits who weren't really good at anything but all we came from the same place. As you all know I've been expanding my reach on the net quite a bit recently. I'm doing some work over at Giantbomb and I've made somewhat of a splash at [adult swim], but I still keep coming back here. What I've come to find out though is that I kept interacting with the same people. People that I could see going to Digibutter and people that I wouldn't be surprised to find out were Digibutter members.
Let's face it, the internet is becoming a cultural shit load. Television is dead, popular music sucks, and they don't make games like they used to. Maybe that's the blind nostalgia talking, but I've seen with my own eyes are *crag*ing stupid a majority of the people are out there, even those with a semblance of taste. It really *crag*ing sucks out there, and everyone keeps coming back with the same damn tune. You can't quit Digibutter. Even the new members come here talking about how this place is a *crag*ing breath of fresh air. Digibutter just captures that essence of a time we don't live in anymore, it's of of those last paragons of the old net. That feeling that just swept through everything from the 80's and into the early 00's. That place where we hoped and believed that this was one of the greatest times to be alive and that only better things lay around the next corner. It's still so recent since that period ended; there really isn't a name for it. But we all know it was there, and that we lost it.
The stream existed to capture that period's television in time and give it back to the people who remember and cherish those times and to offer an open hand to that old world for anyone who will listen. We aren't the only site, and I'm certainly not the only stream, but if we give up on that dream to reinvigorate that time then who will pick up the guard? No one, we were the last generation that experienced that time and the only one's who can carry it forward to an era were the people we grew up with will have the power to bring that time back. When will that be, what will that be? I don't know. I struggle even to right this, because as I've said there really is no name for the period of time, but each of you here knows exactly what I'm talking about. That time before the cynicism and self doubt. That time when you were full of hopes and dreams and knew nothing could stop you. The net boom, the continuos stream of quality culture that you weren't ashamed to admit you liked. The time when networks weren't afraid to show the harsh realities of life in a kid's show, and you accepted them and were able to push ahead. Not this beaten down society we live in now. Not this piece of shit.
So with that, I am here to inform you that I am going to work my hardest to make this stream one of the main focuses of the site until Francis get's back. I want to have broadcasts more than one day a week and I want to be able to stream when I'm not available. I'm going to be investigating a lot of different programs and trying to make this work, because lets face it Digi is always in a constant near death state and we need to keep pumping it full of adrenaline shots until he gets back here.
First off, there is going to be a schedule change. For awhile, it is still going to be the same Saturday night time until I can get some other things going, but I want to change some of the shows around. What tends to happen is that we draw a lot of people in with the comedy shows and old anime (a lot of Toonami shit actually) and I think we need to front load that section a bit more before getting into some of the harder stuff like Paranoia Agent and Bebop. I may start off the block a bit early, but really I'm making this topic to ask you guys what you want. So far this entire block has pretty much been built off Williams Street product, and while I am personally fine with that I want to know what you guys want to bring into the fold.
The short of it, I'm looking for more shows that fall into that Toonami-esque category of action shows and perhaps more comedy like the Boondocks, which come to think of it is the only think we show that isn't technically anime.
Shoot.
