#goldeneye How many times can we remind you that GoldenEye: Reloaded is not just GoldenEye 007 for the Wii? It's GoldenEye 007 for the Wii with better graphics, as this fresh batch of 16 screengrabs from nearly all of the game's stages illustrates. More »

#comiccon2011 Depending upon the consoles you own, the bad news about GoldenEye: Reloaded may still be the good news. It is most definitely a high-definition remastering of last year's title reboot on the Wii. But given the much larger shooter constituency on the PS3 and 360, and online multiplayer's vastly greater viability on those consoles, that may be all the game needs. More »

The rumors of an enhanced port of the Wii's Goldeneye 007 got a shot in the arm today with a batch of supposed screens for the game. Pulled from NeoGAF, the screens certainly look an improvement relative to the Wii predecessor -- see for yourself -- showing off improved textures and models.

In addition to showing off its Marvel properties, Activision is supposed to reveal a new 007 game at Comic-Con later this week. Whether that's this rumored Goldeneye remake or another game entirely, we should know in a few days. Quit fidgeting.

old, but I just now saw it, so yeah.  Needs more hiding in the vents until the enemy agrees to go to the other side of the map and let you get a gun.

If there were any question about how much the recently released Goldeneye title for Nintendo Wii closely resembles its N64 predecessor -- regardless of the source material -- this video from RewindReplayTV certainly cements it. Beyond the game's setting and characters, there are shot-for-shot moments that directly recreate the original game (albeit with far more detail and polish).

Also, if you needed a stirring reminder of how much a Nintendo 64 game can age over the years, Goldeneye 64 is perhaps the pinnacle among available examples. Seeing it against Eurocom's sterling Wii effort only serves to highlight the ravages of time all the more. See for yourself below the fold.

#review The fat-chewing topic for hardcore gamers today who were the adolescents of the 1990s has been GoldenEye, the seminal Nintendo 64 shooter. Why can't they bring it to a modern console? Finally, "they" have. But it's neither reboot nor remake. More »

The people behind Blood Stone and Goldeneye tell us how they brought Bond from the big screen.

Activision had an interesting balancing act on its hands with Goldeneye. It knew that this was a nostalgia title for the Nintendo 64 crowd, yet it had to be wary of "copying" anything from the Rare-developed 1997 title of the same name for legal reasons. So the company goes back to the source material (the film, that is), replaces Pierce Brosnan with Daniel Craig, and builds an entirely new game -- yet all the while hoping it rides its name recognition right off the shelves. "Somebody's remaking Goldeneye! Remember Goldeneye? Goldeneye!"

This isn't a remake. It's a new Bond game based on an older film. Remember when EA made a video game version of From Russia With Love in 2005? It's like that, but if they replaced Sean Connery with Daniel Craig. And gave him a smartphone.

A portion of a 1up review… …if you’re willing to strip away all the pretense, there’s a fun, entertaining first-person shooter here. During a time when the genre has become so beholden to gritty depictions of war and hardcore space marines, it’s pleasant to see a title that, like the best Bond films, doesn’t take itself [...]
