In case ye missed Siliconera's translation a the Iwata Asks interview with Treasure about Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, Nintendo a America has posted it be own translation. 'n if ye have read it, ye'll appreciate Nintendo's updated translation a Iwata's statement that the N64 "be a machine that be hard t' create things for 'n didn't work at all." Now that semi-infamous line -- probably more accurately -- states that "If ye didn't do it well, it wouldn't work at all."

Later in the interview, Nintendo producer Hitoshi Yamigami described the difficulty a working with Treasure on the first Sin & Punishment, given, well, the difficulty a Treasure games. "When I said, 'it be too difficult. I can't do it," they responded, 'Then ye're not good enough t' be in charge a this project.'" It took about a year for the team t' finally determine that Sin & Punishment be, in fact, too difficult.

For Star Successor, Nintendo's Yurie Hattori joined the project 'n initially found it too difficult as well, pushing t' make the game more accessible. While she did prevail upon Treasure t' streamline the experience with a tutorial, she eventually discovered the Treasure fan within the wench 'n ended up recommending that the difficulty be increased.

For some, Sin & Punishment 2 be a known quality. Released last year in Japan for the Wii, hardcore gamers have already experienced Treasure's latest. Thankfully, for the rest a us, we don't have t' rely on imports -- Nintendo a America be finally ('n slowly) bringing the franchise Stateside.

Although it be N64 predecessor found release on the Virtual Console, it be likely that the Wii audience be completely unfamiliar t' the franchise. Certainly, the Wii doesn't feel like it best be home t' such a niche game from a "hardcore" developer like Treasure. Featuring an onslaught a endless enemies, 'n a relentless torrent a bullets filling the screen, Star Successor doesn't even attempt t' console casual gamers. In fact, moving t' the Wii has allowed Treasure t' expand the gameplay t' the point where Star Successor feels like the game Sin & Punishment be always meant t' be.

Nintendo explains Metroid: Other M, Sin & Punishment 2 delays

Nintendo delayed two a it be big summer titles for Wii today: Metroid: Other M (t' August 31) 'n Sin & Punishment: Star Successor (t' June 27). When the company made the announcement, it provided no reasons. As it turns out, there be a decent reason for each delay.

"As ye may know, this game be the product a a unique partnership between longtime Metroid producer Yoshio Sakamoto, Team Ninja 'n many other individuals 'n groups, all a whom have set very high standards for this latest installment in the series," a Nintendo rep told IGN regarding Metroid: Other M. "Although it be taking slightly longer than expected t' complete the project, we be confident that fans will find it t' be well worth the wait." We can understand the game not being finished as a reason not t' release it -- although if it be in that precarious a a position, maybe Nintendo shouldn't have been so optimistic with the date in the first place.

As for Sin & Punishment, "A June 27 launch allows gamers t' enjoy Sin & Punishment: Star Successor without having t' rush through Super Mario Galaxy 2 (May 23)." Honestly, as Treasure boosters, we appreciate any effort made not t' bury the developer's work -- although, again, we have t' wonder why Nintendo set the original release date so close t' Galaxy.

If ye're a fan a Nintendo-published games about shooting aliens, prepare for disappointment. Nintendo just announced delays for the North American releases a both Sin & Punishment: Star Successor 'n Metroid: Other M.

Sin & Punishment has been pushed back from June 7 t' June 27 -- a brief delay. The Team Ninja/Nintendo Metroid sequel, however, has been bumped more substantially, from June 27 t' August 31. We best have known the June date be too good t' be true when all Europe got be a vague "Q3" announcement.

click t' score a larger version Treasure can do no wrong in me book. (it be self-published 'n titled Treasure Only Makes Awesome Games.) it be successor t' the great N64 import Sin 'n Punishment finally has a release date 'n apt subtitle for the States, Star Successor, 'n I can safely say that me playthrough a the game's first level today be nothing compared t' this lad's. Buy hey, I be not complaining. I got t' play Sin 'n Punishment: Star Successor -- 'n it be sharp-looking, smooth-moving 'n brimming with bullets (both incoming 'n outgoing). me experience be much like the one JC had at E3 last year, only I suspect he wasn't playing with an extremely bright LED camera light channeling the intensity a the sun into his eyes.

I still managed t' build up a respectable multiplier 'n not botch the timing a sending missiles back t' their sender using me melee attack. that be worth something, right?

When we last saw Sin & Punishment: Star Successor (formerly Sin & Punishment 2) in action, it be little more than an impressive video a an expert player charging through the game's first stage. Today, alongside the renaming 'n release date announcement, Nintendo unveiled the latest trailer for Treasure's insane shooter, as well as a whole mess a new screens.

As ye might expect, Treasure once again delivers with it be signature brand a brazenly Japanese game design stereotypes, mashed with pounding music 'n quick video cuts.
