Nintendo Stuff Message Board older than one year ago

We've already reported on the Pokemon X/Y glitch that causes your game to freeze if you save in Lumiose City. The thing is, what do you do if you're suffering from the glitch right now? One Reddit user has come up with a method that worked for him. Keep in mind that this is in no way an official fix, so try at your own risk.

Step 1: Load your game.
Step 2: As the game loads wait for the music to start.
Step 3: Mash the home button until it works.

Well...that's just strange. What in the hell happened here? Did another retailer swoop in and grab that preorder bonus, or will it never see the light of day?

- third person action game
- reminiscent of series' like Gears of War
- three main devs: Fernando Velez, the coder, Dubail Guillaume, the designer, and Frederic Zimmer, helping to refine the project
- set in the near future after "some trouble comes directly from outer space"
- includes special features and the team's own style to differentiate from GoW
- programmed their own graphics technology from scratch
- engine's name is "Big Bang Engine"
- no multiplayer, but might be added later if the game succeeds

Coming from a fan-submitted Q&A with Eiji Aonuma...

Q: Yuga is the main villain in the game. What can you tell us about his origins?

EA: The name “Yuga” is derived from the Japanese word for oil paintings because he has the ability to use magic to turn people into paintings. We wanted the character concept to be a crazed artist and so we made him into an unusual character where you can't quite tell if he is supposed to be male or female. He might be close to Ghirahim from Skyward Sword in terms of having an over inflated self-importance.

Q: Who is Mother MaiaMai and how did all her babies get spread all over Hyrule and Lorule?

EA: She is shrouded in mystery. I don't actually know myself exactly why she looks like she does. However, as the question mentioned, she exists in both Hyrule and Lorule and we thought it would work well to make her a bit different from other characters since she has this ability to travel between worlds. So we decided to make her look a bit alien. If you rescue all of the Maiamai then you may learn a little more about her so I would encourage you to play and discover this for yourself.

Aonuma ended the session with yet another Majora's Mask tease.
Oh, one more thing. I see many of you have been asking about a remake of Majora's Mask for Nintendo 3DS. It's nice to see such a strong response to this title and we haven't forgotten about Link's adventures in that world. If you play A Link Between Worlds, you may better understand what I mean by that.

The following comes from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot...

"We expect Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag to be a highly-rated game. Previews have been very positive and the title will again be among the highest performers of the year. We are very confident with the performance of Assassin's Creed 4 and the numbers we have in our model, it is going to be key for the launch of the new consoles this Christmas."

Guillemot stated that he expects Assassin's Creed IV to sell 10 million units, while Assassin's Creed III sold 12.5 million units during its first six months on the market.

Does Nintendo have something lined up for the holiday season that they don't want us seeing yet? While that's not confirmed, there is a bit of information that makes us wonder if there's not something cooking at Nintendo.

Nintendo's Holiday press site page comes around ever year, which is full of assets for the press to check out and share with readers. This year's page prompts for username/password, which no one knows yet. Why is this a big deal? Well, last year's holiday press page included the reveals of Bayonetta 2 and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, which came from a Fall conference.

The story in the article above is real-life. The image included with the story is not. The Sun managed to piece together an interesting article, but then muck it up with a fake piece of technology from Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Wonder if they'll post a correction. A portion of a Nintendo Life interview with SEGA's Takashi Iizuka...

NL: At what point was it agreed that Sonic Lost World would be a Wii U and 3DS exclusive, and when did development start?

Takashi Iizuka: I think the timing we started thinking about Wii U was when Nintendo presented 3rd parties their prototype. Before then, we didn’t confirm the platform. And when Nintendo showed Wii U for the 1st time at E3 (2 years ago) we were developing the game on Wii U.

The development of Wii U was moving on first, but the console was not confirmed yet in the beginning and the development was based on PC first. The platform was confirmed after several levels in the beginning were made. 3DS development started after we already had the basic stage structure and main story of the Wii U version had been confirmed.

NL: With Sonic Generations seeing a 3DS release, and now Sonic Lost World, are you confident that the 3DS will remain part of the plans for new Sonic games?

Takashi Iizuka: We can’t confirm the future, but personally, I feel 3DS is a best console for kids to enjoy a game, and to those consumers, we hope to deliver Sonic titles in the future too.

NL: How happy are you with the current reputation and standing of the Sonic franchise with long-term and new fans?

Takashi Iizuka: Recently, in Japan, US, and UK, we have events held for Sonic Fans, and every year I attend the events also, we have fans that are very young to adults who are even older than me, and they are all coming to the event for Sonic which I’m very happy about. But we want to make Sonic known to those people who don’t play the games, so this is our next challenge!

Good news, bad news situation here. VD-Dev, the company working on IronFall for 3DS eShop, has revealed that they are indeed a licensed Wii U dev. The bad news is, the company has no plans for Wii U software at this time. Perhaps if things pick up, they might change their stance.

Looks like we're slowly inching towards some sort of confirmation of a Monster Hunter 4 leaving Japan. It has been confirmed that a Korean version of Monster Hunter 4 will be present at G-Star 2013, which runs Nov. 14th to 17th. Maybe we can hear from Nintendo at that event concerning possible localizations in other regions! Thanks to CatMario for the heads up!

Due out in Japan on Nov. 7th. Includes a downloadable copy of the game and costs 19,800 yen.
