We've got a new Deus Ex: Human Revolution trailer fresh from TGS, but we can't understand a lick of what these people are saying. Thankfully, the language of kicking ass and looking good while doing it is universal.

Boy, the future sure looks violent. And it looks like everything in the future can transform into something else. At least, that's the impression left by this Deus Ex: Human Revolution gameplay trailer. That's right, it's finally time to see what the actual game looks like. Fans of the previous pre-rendered trailer will be happy to hear that, yes, you can punch through a wall and snap a dude's neck.

#screens The next Deus Ex game, now in development at Eidos Montreal, will be dark, glowing with gold light and, occasionally, feature a hint of seafoam green. We know this by looking at "new" screen shots of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. More »

Hey -- new Deus Ex: Human Revolution screenshots! Don't look yet, though. Let's guess what's in them based on what the Art Director said about the game at E3.
  • Lots of black and gold!
  • Heavy Blade Runner influence!
  • Someone is probably wearing sunglasses!
  • And robots! (Or at least a robot-style arm)
Look at that, we were exactly right. Not that these look bad -- mind you. Aside from this concept piece, they're all in-engine and they all look very impressive (and that's a nice security camera interface, too). But when Jonathan Jacques-Belletête said he wanted the game to have a distinct style, he wasn't kidding around.

Del Rey Books announced today it will publish Deus Ex: The Icarus Effect, a novel set in the universe of the upcoming video game Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The Icarus Effect currently has a launch date of "2011" for North America and Europe, which is roughly the same window the video game is launching under.

The book will be written by James Swallow, who has penned several sci-fi books, including those set in the Warhammer 40K and Stargate 'verses. More information on the novel will be provided on the official Deus Ex: Human Revolution site as it self-upgrades to become an A.I. that'll kill us all ... but not before sharing details on the book first.

#e3 At E3, Warren Spector, one of the lead people behind the original Deus Ex and now in charge of making an impressive Mickey Mouse adventure, said he was content to not be making a "sunglasses-at-night" video game. Others still make the stuff. More »

We're still a good long way away from the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, so keep in mind that it's hard to say if what I saw inside Square-Enix is truly representative of what we'll get when the game finally releases. But the small sliver of combat and social puzzle solving I saw looked extremely promising for series stalwarts and newcomers alike.

Eidos Montreal producer and lead game designer David Anfossi and Jean-François Dugas may have difficult-to-pronounce names (see the beginning of our video) but they've got an even more difficult job, convincing gamers that the Deus Ex franchise can work without designer Warren Spector.

The duo chatted with us about that challenge, plus how Deus Ex: Human Revolution differentiates itself, in the video interview you'll find just after the break.

Let's not spoil anything. Instead, let's just say that Square-Enix's CGI work for Deus Ex: Human Revolution is really paying off. You should watch the trailer above right now. And then watch it again.

Now that you've done that, we've got some actual news: It looks like Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been confirmed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The game will be released in 2011, and is now available for pre-order from the usual suspects.
