With PlayStation Move in the hot little hands of gamers around the world, it’s time to set our sights on the future of PlayStation Move. In those sights: the glowing red eyes of the Helghast army.

When Killzone 3 drops on February 22nd 2011, Sev and the ISA troops will be packing some state-of-the-art firepower in the form of PlayStation Move. So how does an elite first-person shooter map to the PlayStation Move control scheme? And how does it stack up to the traditional DualShock controls? We went hands-on to find the answers with Steven Ter Heide from Guerrilla Games.

PlayStation Blog has announced a February 22, 2011 North American release date for Killzone 3, the fourth installment in Guerrilla Games' FPS series (we know, we still find that confusing too). For those of you keeping score, that's almost two years to the day after the release of Killzone 2. We guess the last week of Feburary holds some kind of secret significance to the Amsterdam-based developer.

If you happen to be attending the Penny Arcade Expo at the moment, you can get your hands on the game much, much sooner -- a playable 8-on-8 multiplayer demo is currently set up at Sony's booth on the PAX show floor.

Guerrilla Games has been hard at work making the most explosive shooter possible on the PlayStation 3 system. At E3, the development team gave you a glimpse of Killzone 3 in 3D where they walked away with Best Shooter, Best 3D graphics, and Best PS3 game to name a few of the E3 awards received.

Last month, we unveiled elements of Killzone 3’s stellar new multiplayer at gamescom and revealed new vehicles.

We’re at PAX today so if you’re at the show, please stop by the Killzone booth and check out multiplayer for yourself.

Before you and the many thousands of other yous gets a chance to go hands-on with Killzone 3 this weekend at PAX Prime, Famitsu has a smattering of new images to hungrily dig through for new information. One thing solidly confirmed by these shots? Dusters. Hooded dusters, no less!

And hey, if you ask us, there's a sever underuse of dusters in the world of video games. Unfortunately for the gentleman above, he seems to have been socked in the face several moments before the image was taken, so his duster is fluttering through the air along with his torso. Hopefully you'll fare better this weekend at PAX!

Killzone 3's multiplayer is set for its first public hands-on engagement this week at PAX. There will be 16 multiplayer stations set up at the show for players to compete in 8v8 matches. Sony will also have four pods set up for single-player, with an additional three featuring the game in 3D -- there's nothing quite like a reload animation in 3D.

If you don't care about standing around in line to touch some plague-infested controller (Purell is your friend), the company will have limited supplies of Killzone swag bags at the booth. Also, there's mention of some "collectible art cards" at the booth that will have instructions on how to "win" a code for entry into the Killzone 3 beta.

If you’re heading to the 2010 Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, Washington this weekend, we’ve got a bit of a treat for you: Killzone 3 will be there, and YOU can go hands-on with the game’s multiplayer mode! This will be the first time the Killzone 3 multiplayer mode is accessible to the public, so we’re really anxious to hear what you think. To make sure as many people as possible get a shot, we’ve got 16 multiplayer pods set up, with 8v8 matches rolling over constantly. On top of that there’ll be seven single-player pods available, three of which sport glorious 3D! We’ll be giving away Killzone swag bags at the booth so make sure you get down there early since quantities are limited.

You may have read my impressions of Killzone 3’s multiplayer mode earlier in the week, but why listen to what I think? Find out further details around the explosive mode from the game’s Senior Producer, Steven Ter Heide in this video interview direct from gamescom.

The Helghast weren’t the only things I shot this week; look out for a few more video interviews next week, here on the PlayStation.Blog.

Sony couldn't possibly stage its Gamescom 2010 press conference without spotlighting its FPS mega-sequel, Killzone 3. So we've gotten a new trailer for the game -- the same one screened for attendees -- that provides a first glimpse at the new game's multiplayer component in action. Big, metal, stomping action.

In addition to the usual running around in squads shooting the bad guys, this footage shows something we wished Killzone 2's multiplayer featured but never did: the ability to use giant powered exoskeletons to smash your opponents. (The single-player mode's jetpacks are in there, too.) Sadly, the exoskeleton doesn't appear to transform into a jeep or other vehicle -- that's for Killzone 4, obviously. For now, we'll just have to make do with what you can see in the video after the break.

These are exciting times for Guerrilla. It only seems like a couple days ago that we showed you the first glimpse of Killzone 3’s campaign mode. But here we are, more than two months later, ready to give you an exclusive taste of the multiplayer mode ahead of our gamescom press demo.

Killzone 3’s multiplayer mode adds heaps of new features to the strong fundamentals laid by its predecessor, creating a fresh multiplayer experience that everyone can enjoy. It offers 2 new game modes, a new matchmaking system, vehicles, Brutal Melee attacks and more ranks, abilities and rewards than you can shake a stick at!

The trailer contains never-before-seen footage from one of the multiplayer levels, called Corinth Highway. It is situated on the edge of Pyrrhus, the city which was nuked by Visari in an attempt to decimate the occupying ISA Forces. Now, a handful of surviving ISA and Helghast troops find themselves fighting for every square inch of remaining infrastructure in this broken city, while on the other side of the Pyrrhus River a new theater of war is already developing. The Corinth River level demonstrates a number of exciting multiplayer features, including Exoskeletons – the first of several player-operable vehicles in Killzone 3.

Enjoy this Killzone 3 multiplayer trailer, and please let us know what you think in the comments!

Just like its older brother Killzone 2, it appears that upcoming Guerrilla Games FPS Killzone 3 will be getting a beta in some form. A recently launched site with the URL "http://beta.killzone.com/kz3/beta-login.html" and a gated login (that's apparently not allowing anyone in as of right now) certainly seems to imply as much. Adding to the possibility is the fact that the Killzone 2 Community Website service on PSN lists "Killzone 3 Beta Website" as a launchable location, as spotted by Iron Star Movement.

We've reached out to Sony and Guerrilla for more details, but we have to imagine it won't be completely different from betas we've seen in the past-- (say, the Killzone 2 beta, for instance -- with online multi and a few game modes, perhaps). That said, this game does have jetpacks, and that changes things a bit -- namely, our excitement for more info.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

Expect a lot more things to explode and/or fly directly into you in Killzone 3. Guerrilla is hyping up "cinematic deaths" as a new feature of its upcoming sequel, and it looks exactly as it sounds. According to a blog post on Killzone.com, "Killzone 3 is strongly influenced by Hollywood realism ... Cinematic deaths are the logical progression of this design philosophy, adding a variety of spectacular (and sometimes explosive) new ways for Helghast enemies to perish."

Valve's "cinematic physics" (utilized in Half-Life 2: Episide Two) favored drama over realism, and it appears Guerrilla is following suit; however, we'll have to agree with some of the fans' criticisms. "I don't understand how when you shoot that ship with missiles, it loses control and comes right at you," one commenter questioned. Another added that the new cinematic death animations "look really weird and fake." Would you agree?

Got someplace to be early tomorrow morning? Well blow it off! You’ll wanna stay up late tonight to see Killzone 3 in action.

Video Game Week continues on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, as Guerrilla Games’ Hermen Hulst will be demoing KZ3 in gorgeous 3D. Jimmy stunk it up a little bit last night in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit; hopefully he’ll have better luck dishing out brutal melee attacks on the Helghast. If he does well, we can all forgive him for his role in the cinematic catastrophe known as 2004’s Taxi. Queen Latifah, you’re still on the hook.

David Spade will also be guesting, so stay up or set your DVR for 12:35 am tonight on NBC. You’ll be able to play Killzone 3 in February 2011.

Sony has announced at their press conference today that Killzone 3 will arrive on store shelves next year, and when it appears, it'll come with both Move functionality, and full 3D. 3D will of course require a 3D television, with glasses, and the Move functionality will of course need the actual Move system, so if you want to play the full Killzone 3 experience, you'll have to murder your wallet first.

The game is dated for February 2011, so a mere eight months from now, you'll be able to make your way back to the Helghast Empire.
