it be been a long time coming for fight fans, but Marvel vs Capcom 3 will finally arrive in households across the country this week. Now that ye've already read our take on the game (we checked yer browser history), it be time t' check out what the rest a the critics have t' say. Shall we take ye for a ride?
  • 1UP (91/100): "The possibilities be endless, 'n ye'll experience something new in every match ye play. Try t' sail away yer preconceived notions about what this game best be at the door, pick it up, 'n just have fun because that be what this game be all about."
  • GamesRadar (90/100): "With spectacular comic book presentation, some a the most chaotic action in any game ever 'n sufficient technical depth t' keep even ultra hardcore fight fans happy, this be the impossible - a worthy successor t' Marvel vs Capcom 2."
  • OXM (90/100): "The magic a the game be in it be approachability... For both hardcore fighting fans 'n genre newbies, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 offers a whole lotta bang for yer buck." [Mar 2011, p.70]
  • IGN (85/100): "The balance 'n depth in the game be astonishing, 'n even the odd characters have their distinct charms...What's really a shame here be that the developer didn't manage t' find a way t' supplement the core experience with extras that would extend the life a the game by adding some variety t' the package."
  • Eurogamer (80/100): "Far more welcoming t' button-mashers than Street Fighter IV, this be a game in which ye can tap stuff 'n watch sparkly miracles happen. But t' begin t' understand 'n master it be systems will take just as much practice as it did in Ono's game - 'n quicker reactions t' boot."
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate a tiny action figures

Potentially good news for fans a tiny versions a things they like: A new line a Minimates figures based on Marvel vs. Capcom 3 be revealed by Minimates HQ earlier today. The site has since pulled the announcement at the request a Diamond Select Toys, though not before the news 'n images (like the ones above) be firmly planted on the internet.

Figures appear t' run the gamut from Arthur t' X-23. Even as their creators have apparently backtracked on the official announcement, the MvC3 Minimates appear t' be legit (they even showed up on Capcom Unity, briefly) -- 'n they be definitely marketable. Seriously, we've wanted a pocket-sized Arthur since, like, 1989.

Montague vs. Capulet. Death Row vs. Bad Boy. Sparta vs. Athens. Yankees vs. Red Sox. Hamilton vs. Burr. Sure, these lads have some bad blood. We'd even go so far as t' say they've got beef. But do any a them have the ability t' manipulate metal or flex a bionic arm? How about healing powers 'n adamantium claws? be any a them gods a thunder? We thought not. Advantage Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate a Two Worlds.

The excuse for bringing all these characters into the same place basically boils down t' this: Dr. Doom, a Marvel fame, 'n Wesker, from the Resident Evil games, try t' meld their respective universes in order t' take them both over at once. Unfortunately, by doing so, they made it easier for the rampaging planet eater Galactus t' chow down on two worlds. it be all fairly inconsequential t' the gameplay but, hey, there needs t' be at least some reason for bringing all these folks together for a third time. 'n t' be honest, when a game be as much fun as MvC3, we don't really care what that reason be.

Marvel's Chris Baker has done his final lap through the various origins a Marvel vs. Capcom 3's alternate costumes for the superheroes in the game 'n, just like last time, things pillage geeky fast. Good t' see Marvel got the Days a Future Now Deadpool in there, as well as Doom 2099 'n the Secret Invasion Super Skrull. Most players who choose the variants might not know where they come from, but ye comic book geeks will.

a course, this last round a backstory also reveals that Marvel 'n Capcom didn't always have a lot a choices for some a the more obscure characters. Sometimes, they just bent things around as much as possible (witness Thor's continuity-breaking "inspired by" costume variants) 'n sometimes they just look t' the New York Knicks.that be right -- the Mango Sentinel be back, 'n he so Pringles, baybee!
