NintendoWare Weekly: Street Slam, Robox

NBA Jam now faces some competition from the Virtual Console for Wii arcade basketball dominance. Well, actually, we doubt anyone in the history of the platform has ever worried about competition from the Virtual Console. In any case, the Neo Geo's Street Slam is available today. It's unrealistic, arcade-style basketball.

The WiiWare adventure Robox debuts today, as does a rare WiiWare/DSiWare dual release: Gene Labs, a puzzle action game about healing cells infected by a virus.

A portion of a Nintendo Life review… All in all, Robox is rather average; were Dreambox to make a sequel, it would require some thinking outside the box.

We're of the opinion that the world could do with more cute robots and more hand-drawn 2D games. It's no wonder, then, that we watched the trailer for the WiiWare game Robox so raptly. Robox tells the story of a cube-shaped probe robot exploring a strange, lush planet, surviving with the help of the indigenous life-forms.

The trailer reveals platforming, an offensive "drop" ability that can be used to break blocks, and a retractable arm that can grab items. It also features segments of pointer-based shooting. Dreambox Games has yet to reveal a release window or price for Robox.
